For my first trip to Japan, I flew round-trip in Business Class and paid just ~$110 out of pocket for an ~$8,000 ticket!  I used American Airlines miles to book the flight to Japan.  By earning welcome bonuses from the best travel credit cards such as the CitiBusiness® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® World Mastercard®, we’ve traveled the world using miles!  This credit card currently has the largest sign-up bonus of any American Airlines credit card.

I Spent 120,000 American Airlines Miles for a Round-Trip Business Class Ticket to Japan!

The CitiBusiness® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® World Mastercard® will earn you 70,000 American Airlines miles after making $4,000 in purchases within the first 4 months of account opening.  My mom recently applied for this credit card and got approved, even with a small business!

You can use American Airlines miles to fly to many different destinations.  We’re sharing a few of our favorites and how to get there with American Airlines miles.

How You Can Visit These 3 Must-See Destinations Using American Airlines Miles

1.   Japan

Booking flights using American Airlines miles is one of the best ways to get to Japan.  For my last trip to Japan I booked two round-trip tickets in Business class.  We visited Kyoto, where we went bike riding, explored old temples, and visited the Iwatayama Monkey Park!  Team member Harlan also used American Airlines miles to visit Japan and see the cherry blossoms!

One-way trips to Japan in coach can be found for as little as 32,500 American Airlines miles, or you can fly one-way in Business Class for 60,000 American Airlines miles for Saver awards.

2.   Peru

This dazzling country and Machu Picchu are on my bucket list.  I’d like to trek one of the two trails up to Machu Picchu.  And honestly, I’ve seen so many Instagram photos of llamas, and I just want to cuddle with one so bad! 🙂

You Can Use American Airlines Miles to Fly to South America for 17,500 Miles Off-Peak Each Way

Peru is super cheap to get to.  You can fly round-trip for 35,000 American Airlines miles in a coach Saver award seat during off-peak season.  Or for 60,000 American Airlines miles, you can relax in luxury in a Business Class seat!

3.   Hawaii

I just visited Hawaii for the third time earlier this year.  We went zip-lining on the west side of Oahu and visited Kualoa Farms, where Jurassic Park was filmed!  And of course, hanging out and surfing on Waikiki Beach in Hawaii’s mild climate makes this a great destination any time of the year.

We recently found Economy Web Specials for flights to Honolulu from Los Angeles in February 2019 for as little as 12,500 American Airlines miles one-way.  Regular saver award tickets cost 20,000 miles one-way, so that’s a great savings!
