For reference, American Airlines Gold elite status normally requires 25,000 Elite Qualifying Miles and 3,000 Elite Qualifying Dollars. And Platinum status requires 50,000 Elite Qualifying Miles and 6,000 Elite Qualifying Dollars!
Team member Jason was even luckier and was targeted for Platinum Pro status. It comes with perks like complimentary auto-requested upgrades and 2 free checked bags! And usually, you’ll need a whopping 75,000 Elite Qualifying Miles and 9,000 Elite Qualifying Dollars to qualify.

Some of these targeted offers are also coming with elite status challenges, that would allow you to keep your elite status after completing specific tasks.
For the elite status challenges, you’ll need to collect enough Elite Qualifying Miles and Elite Qualifying Dollars between the date you register and May 15, 2019, to have your status extended through January 31, 2020.
For example, we’ve seen an offer for extended Platinum status for those who can earn 12,500 Elite Qualifying Miles and 1,500 Elite Qualifying Dollars within the specified timeframe. That’s significantly less than what you’d normally need to earn, so it’s a good deal for those who can meet the qualifications!
