Good news for any American Airlines or Hyatt loyalists out there! The 2 companies have just announced a partnership wherein those with elite status with either program will get additional reciprocal benefits.
There’s no exact date for the launch of this partnership, though we’re told it should happen sometime later this year. And many of the details of how these reciprocal benefits will work aren’t available yet, but we’ll keep you posted as we learn more!
Here’s more about what we know so far. If you want more miles & points news like this delivered to your inbox daily, subscribe to our newsletter.
New American Airlines – Hyatt Partnership
The additional benefits elite members in each program will have access to include:
American Airlines
- American Airlines Gold, Platinum, Platinum Pro, Executive Platinum, and ConciergeKey members will be able to earn 1 American Airlines mile for every eligible $1 spent on qualifying Hyatt stays
- American Airlines ConciergeKey members will receive World of Hyatt Globalist status (Hyatt’s highest elite level)
World of Hyatt
- World of Hyatt Discoverist, Explorist, and Globalist members will be able to earn 1 Hyatt point for every $1 spent on qualifying American Airlines flights
The above-mentioned bonus points/miles you’ll earn are in addition to the standard earnings you’d get as a loyalty program member of each program.
What’s great about these new reciprocal benefits is that they’re simple and straightforward – you’ll earn one Hyatt point or one American Airlines mile per $1 spent. Plus, you don’t need top-tier status to enjoy these perks.
They also plan to offer a number of status challenges. And while they haven’t offered much information regarding what these challenges will look like, it means elites with each program will be able to earn accelerated status with the other program.
And don’t forget! Anyone with the World of Hyatt Credit Card gets automatic Hyatt Discoverist status, so cardholders will now earn more Hyatt points for flights on American Airlines. That undoubtedly adds to the value of this particular hotel credit card.
