There’s great news for folks who use points to book award stays at Wyndham hotels!

Starting May 11, 2015, you’ll be able to book a standard room at ANY Wyndham hotel for 15,000 points per night.  And there are no blackout dates!

This includes their top-tier resorts and certain all-inclusive hotelsThis makes the 45,000 30,000 point sign-up bonus for the Barclaycard Wyndham Rewards premium card much more enticing!

In the past, Wyndham award nights cost 5,500 to 50,000 points.  But now every hotel will cost the same number of points.

What’s the Deal?

1.   Go Free Award Nights – 15,000 Points for ALL Hotels

Award nights at all Wyndham hotels will cost 15,000 points per night starting May 11, 2015.

This is very good news for folks who want to stay at higher category (tier 5 to 9) Wyndham hotels.

Wyndham hotels include:

All Wyndham Hotels Will Soon Cost Only 15,000 Points Per Night
The Wyndham Koloa Landing at Poipu Beach Grand Resort Will Now Cost 15,000 Points per Night Instead of 50,000!

It’s not such good news if you prefer staying in their budget locations, because award rooms at lower category (tier 1 to 4) hotels will cost more points.

That said, paid stays at their lower-end hotels are usually very cheap, so it’s better to pay cash in that case anyway!

Here’s what their old award chart looks like:

All Wyndham Hotels Will Soon Cost Only 15,000 Points Per Night
Top-Tier Award Nights Will Soon Be a Bargain

Now, award nights at every hotel will cost 15,000 points!

You could treat yourself to a stay at the Dolce Silverado Resort and Spa in Napa.  Rooms here can cost over $300 per night, but after May 11, 2015, you’ll only pay 15,000 Wyndham points.

Or if you’re planning a Disney vacation, the Wyndham Grand Orlando Bonnet Creek (formerly 30,000 points per night) is an amazing deal.

All Wyndham Hotels Will Soon Cost Only 15,000 Points Per Night
Families Will Enjoy the Wyndham Grand Bonnet Creek, Which Features a Lagoon-Style Pool and Rooms With Bunk Beds for the Kids!

And for 15,000 points a night, you could stay at a participating Wyndham Viva all-inclusive resort with meals and other amenities included for 2 guests!

I can’t think of any other hotel chain that offers all-inclusive award nights for 15,000 points!

Some of Wyndham’s All-Inclusive Viva Resorts Can Also Be Booked Cheaply

The FAQ’s for Wyndham’s new program say they’ll have more information available on May 11, 2015, including which Viva hotels are included.

2.  Go Fast Award Nights – Points Plus Cash

Wyndham will also start offering award nights for points plus cash starting May 11, 2015.

Instead of paying 15,000 Wyndham points for an award night, folks will have the option of paying 3,000 points plus cash instead.  The amount of cash required will vary by hotel, and they won’t publish exact rates until the changes go into effect.

Want to Make Your Points Last Longer? You’ll Be Able to Book Award Nights With Points Plus Cash

This could be a good option for folks who want to stretch their points into more award nights!  I’m looking forward to seeing more details.

3.   Minimum Points Earned for Qualified Stays

You’ll currently earn 10 points per $1 you spend on qualified stays (booked directly with Wyndham).  But starting May 11, 2015, you’ll earn a minimum of 1,000 points per stay regardless of how much you paid for the room.

This could be a great deal for folks who book paid stays at inexpensive Wyndham hotel brands, like Days Inn, Knights Inn or Travelodge.

So if you frequently stay at budget Wyndham hotels, you could earn a lot of points quickly (and use them for much more expensive award nights!).

But you could earn even more Wyndham points fast by signing-up for their credit cards!

The Barclaycard Wyndham Rewards Cards

Update:   The increased offers for the Barclaycard Wyndham Rewards cards are no longer available.  The current best deal is now for 30,000 points.  Congratulations to everyone who got approved for the higher offer!

Thanks to Million Mile Secrets readers for letting me know!  A better offer may be coming this summer.

I’ve written about the Barclaycard Wyndham Rewards credit cards, but haven’t recommended them, except for folks who stay at Wyndham hotels often.

That’s because (until now), other Barclaycards like the Barclaycard Arrival Plus World Elite Mastercard have had more valuable sign-up bonuses.  And Barclaycard is well known for only approving you for 1 or 2 cards a year.

But now, the 45,000 30,000 point sign-up bonus on the Barclaycard Wyndham Rewards premium card will be worth 3 2 free nights at a top-tier Wyndham hotel.  It’s well worth the $69 annual fee!

All Wyndham Hotels Will Soon Cost Only 15,000 Points Per Night
The Premium Version of the Barclaycard Wyndham Rewards Card Will Earn You 3 2 Free Nights at the Wyndham Grand Chicago Riverfront

These aren’t our links, but Emily and I will always tell you about better offers, even if we don’t earn a commission.

With the no-annual-fee card, you’ll get:

  • 12,000 bonus points after your 1st purchase, plus 8,000 points after you spend $1,000 on purchases the 1st 3 months of opening your account (20,000 points total)
  • 3 points per $1 you spend at Wyndham hotels
  • 2 points per $1 you spend on everything else
  • NO annual fee
All Wyndham Hotels Will Soon Cost Only 15,000 Points Per Night
For NO Annual Fee, You Could Get a Free Night (With Points to Spare) at the Wyndham Grand Plaza Royale Hainan Longmu Bay

And the premium version of the card includes:

  • 30,000 bonus points after your 1st purchase, plus 15,000 points after you spend $1,000 on purchases the 1st 3 months of opening your account (45,000 points total)
  • 5,500 points on your account anniversary each year
  • 5 points per $1 you spend at Wyndham hotels
  • 2 points per $1 you spend on everything else
  • $69 annual fee, NOT waived for the 1st year

Note:   Both cards add a 3% foreign transaction fee, so they’re not good for traveling overseas.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the terms and conditions for these cards change very soon in anticipation of Wyndham’s new program rules.  Three free nights in a luxury hotel from 1 credit card sign-up bonus is very generous.

Bottom Line

Wyndham hotels’ award program is changing on May 11, 2015, and it’s very good news for most folks!

You’ll be able to book an award night at any Wyndham hotel for 15,000 points.  This even includes their top-tier hotels, which used to cost 50,000 points per night!

And they’re introducing points plus cash awards, and a minimum of 1,000 Wyndham points on cheap paid stays.

These makes the Barclaycard Wyndham Rewards cards much more attractive!  You could earn up to 3 2 free nights at a luxury hotel from 1 credit card sign-up bonus.

Emily and I don’t earn a commission from the Wyndham credit cards, but we’ll always share the best offers with you!

What do you think of the changes to Wyndham’s award program?  And which hotels would you book for 15,000 points per night?

I have heard the Dolce properties are not included inn the 15,000 per night program including from Wyndham 800 line. You mention that you can stay at Dolce Silverado in Napa. Has this been confirmed or just assuming because it is now part of Wyndham?

Also, do you know which all-inclusives are part of the 15,000 category

while have 178 categories and levels of hotel points can be confusing and hard to find hotels (I exaggerate of course), going to only 1 is dumb, because you might as well start booking their high end properties for 2034 since every points room will be booked for every year before that as soon as they cut over.

The law of supply and demand will force changes.

How else can you get Wyndham points? Can they be transferred from somewhere else if we don’t want to get the Barclays card?

I clicked on the link for the credit card and it says, “the offer has expired”!!! Already gone??

Looks the the card offer is dead! just changed
