Jared at Online Travel Review writes that the opportunity to redeem Iceland Air miles for cheap flights on Alaska Air to Hawaii will end today at 8:00 pm EST.

There will be a new redemption rate announced later on, but it almost certainly won’t be as generous as the current redemptions rates.

Jared lists a few other redemption options as well, but remember that you can redeem your Iceland Air miles for  any flights on Alaska Airlines – not necessarily those to Hawaii only.  If you have Iceland Air miles which you can’t use to Hawaii, it could make sense to book a First Class flight to other Alaska Air destinations.

This lasted a lot longer than I expected, and I’m glad lots of folks were able to take advantage of it to fly for less in First Class to Hawaii.

Thanks again, Jared!

I agree with Joshua Pickles.

I rather fly AA and get the status miles. When I used to be AA EXP (I soft landed down to PLT due to Stage 4 cancer), I would wait for a nice sale fare to Hawaii (for example, LAX-HNL for $263ai a few years ago) and upgrade using comp upgrades for me & 500 milers in my account for my wife. At that time, the service was in a 767 which was quite nice.

The information was all over the place and lasted for some time. If I wanted in on the deal, I would have bought some miles for my wife & I to do the deal. Wasn’t that interested in the deal but was a nice deal for the right people.

Such a bummer. I wasn’t even able to get an account these 2 weeks. I’ll just have to wait for the next deal…

totally with Joshua, I missed it when i was in AK vacation and the in-flex and icelandair’s system “glitch” makes it super hard for me to proceed. I’d rather use AA for Hawaiian.

@ Jim:

Be nice, it was not really a great deal for everyone. I would rather use AA miles on Hawaiian, Alaska, or AA to get to Hawaii and only pay $5 in fees and have the flexibility to redeposit at no fee as an EXP.

Congrats on helping to kill this one.
