My mom’s dishwasher is 14 years old, and finally gave out this month. She shopped around for a new dishwasher, and decided on one from Costco.
Because the holidays are right around the corner, I purchased the dishwasher for her and earned 3,175 Chase Ultimate Rewards points for the purchase! To put that into perspective, 3,175 points is enough for a one-way flight on Southwest, depending on the departure cities and destinations.
How You Can Earn 5X Chase Ultimate Rewards Points for Your Purchases
For the dishwasher purchase, I used the Chase Freedom credit card. You’ll earn 5X Chase Ultimate Rewards points per $1, or 5% cash back (up to $1,500 in combined purchases each quarter) in certain bonus categories when you register. The Chase Freedom has no annual fee, making it a great card to keep for a long time and establish your credit history with Chase.
If you make the most of this deal, you can earn $75 cash back (or 7,500 Chase Ultimate Rewards points) per quarter. This quarter (October 1 through December 31, 2018) the 5X categories are department stores, wholesale clubs (like Costco!), and Chase Pay purchases.
Having Chase Pay as a bonus category makes it especially easy to earn the full bonus this quarter. Because Chase Pay is accepted in so many places!
The information for the Chase Freedom® has been collected independently by Million Mile Secrets. The card details on this page have not been reviewed or provided by the card issuer.

What I like to do is move my Chase Ultimate Rewards points to my Chase Sapphire Reserve® . Because the Sapphire Reserve allows me to transfer to great travel partners like Southwest and United Airlines! Million Mile Secrets team member Scott has a similar strategy, but he moves his points to his Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card (our #1 pick for folks new to using points instead of money for travel!).
Everyone here at Million Mile Secrets has one of these 2 cards!
What You Can Do With ~3,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards Points
3,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points may not sound like a lot, but Chase points can quickly add up! I found lots of one-way flights from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, to Montego Bay, Jamaica, for just ~3,000 Southwest points. Remember, you can transfer Chase points to Southwest for free!
