Update:   This offer is no longer available.  Check our Hot Deals for the latest offers.

In addition to the 50,000 Membership Rewards points with the American Express Premier Rewards Gold after spending $1,000 within 3 months, here’s an American Express Business Gold card with 75,000 Membership Rewards points after spending $10,000 in the 1st 4 months.

I’ve written before that the 75,000 point offers are not worth the amount of minimum spending required (unless you can mange the minimum spending comfortably) because they take away from sign-up bonuses on other cards.

Here’s a post on what to do with Membership Rewards points.

The terms say that you have to apply by March 14, 2013 to get the 75,000 point sign up bonus and use Bonus ID A3TZ (which I’m assuming is already coded in the application link).

The terms also say that the: “Welcome bonus offer not available to applicants who have had this product or any other Business Gold, Green or Platinum Card® account within the last 12 months.

You should be able to get the bonus if you have have the American Express personal Premier Rewards Gold and the Platinum card since the terms preclude only business cards within the last 12 months.

$10,000 may seem like a lot (and it is).  But do the math to see if it makes sense for YOU to chase $10,000 spending within 4 months when there are other cards which require less minimum spending.

The $175 annual fee is waived for the 1st year and you earn:

  • 3X points on airfare
  • 2x points on purchases in the U.S. for advertising in select media, gasoline at U.S. stand-alone gas stations, and shipping
  • 1X points on other purchases

Membership Rewards airline and hotel transfer partners often have transfer bonuses, so you may be able to transfer your points to, say, British Airways and get 40% more points.

American Express seems to be running limited time mega sign-up bonus offers, but with large minimum spending requirements.  We’ve seen similar offers before for 1 day only, so it is nice to see this offer run for a bit longer.

Bottom Line:

I’ve always thought the regular Business Gold Card which offered NO sign-up bonus to be overrated, but a 75,000 point sign-up bonus definitely makes this card quite attractive (if you can meet the minimum spending requirement).

But I still prefer the 50,000 Membership Rewards points from the Premier Rewards Gold card which requires only $1,000 in spending within 3 months.

What else is the best use of MR points if you are not using it for international travel?

I see that Cardmatch have an offer for 50k bouns after spending $1000 in 3months with fee of 1st year waived.

I see delta = which i see dont have much harder to find discounted awards flight within the US

Froniter/Jet blue= not sure how their awards flights are.

Hilton/SPG = is it worth the transfer?

Am ready to apply for an Ink Bold card. Does the 5x points for phone, cable, internet only credited after you spend $50,000 annually?

Million Mile Secrets

@Dorinda Nicholson – You get 5x points on all phone, cable, internet spending up to $50,000 annually. For example, if you spend $100 on cable, you should get 500 Ultimate Rewards points.

@Kent C

Chase Ink + Staples will do it… sorry you’re running out but Avios are really super easy to earn. I know what you mean about 4 flights to Hawaii but not everyone can spend 5 hours in coach so for others it really is just 2 business class tickets or a little more than one first class ticket… and only for people who live on the west coast.

but yes, i understand the value it has for you but i still feel the spending requirement is too high.

@Blake – Being an authorized user doesn’t exclude you from getting your own card and receiving the bonus.

Million Mile Secrets

@John – Some readers have manged to get the bonus again, while others have been told that AMEX tracks the bonus by social security number and not EIN, so they won’t be able to get the bonus. I wouldn’t count on getting the bonus.

@Blake – Nope, you’re not ineligible as an authorized user.
