Bottom Line

You can get a 50% bonus when you transfer American Express Membership Rewards points to Starwood by November 30, 2014.  But only targeted Platinum and Centurion card holders can get the bonus.

American Express Membership Rewards points normally transfer to Starwood points at a ratio of 3:1.  You’re getting a ratio of 2:1 with the 50% percent bonus, but it’s still not a good deal.

I don’t recommend transferring points, unless you are short on Starwood points for an award stay or if you’re planning an immediate transfer for an airline award ticket.

Disney tickets? I am aware of quasi Disney property ( Swan and Fish ). Please share re: tickets. Thank you.

I would put towards Disney tickets on our next family visit!

Greetings Daraius,

My valuation of MR is 1 cent per point ( based on travel I have priced via AMEX website w/ MR points ). I value SPG points from 4 to 5 cents per point ( based on stays over New Year’s Eve on the beaches of Florida and Mardi Gras in New Orleans ). Therefore, I was all too happy to transfer 100k MR for 50k SPG. Just my 2 cents. Or. 2.5 cents 😉

I also got a bonus when transferring AmEx to Marriott this week!
