Via infamousdx, you could get 5% cashback at BP gas stations up to January 31, 2012 when you use your American Express card.

You do have to register your American Express card here first, and the terms and conditions say that you have to receive an invitation to be eligible, but as always, it doesn’t hurt to see if you can register.

If you’ve still got to make a trip to the mall to complete the Holiday shopping, you could burn an entire tank of gas just finding a parking spot, so 5% cash back on BP gas could help a bit!

Interestingly, American Express cards issued by Bank of America are considered “eligible cards,” but cards issued by Citibank are not considered eligible cards!  This means that you can’t register Citi AAdvantage American Express cards. 🙁

Bottom Line:  This is a targeted offer, but 5% cash back on gas could save you a few bucks over the Holiday season.

I signed up for this as well and received my credits for each time I purchased gas. The detailed notes would say BP Holiday. Then in early April I received a rather large credit from Amex. In the detailed notes it says BP Holiday. Did you receive anything like this?

@Corridor! – I actually didn’t sign up for this since the nearest BP station is quite a bit away. But sounds like you’re in AMEX’s good books!

I just wanted to mention that I was not targeted as well, but registered my PRG card and it worked. I also received the email that I had earned the credit and it posted a day or two later!

Just wanted to report I was not targeted, I just saw this post and registered my Premier Rewards Gold card (which is my default gas card anyway). Got gas at BP station last week. Got email this morning confirming I have earned a credit and it will post within a week. I am still not sure it will work more than once but will try anyway given our local BP is about the cheapest around right now

Regarding the evil empire BP… I hear you and won’t defend BP’s actions but seriously do you think anyone else in the oil biz is any difference? Remember Exon Valdeze? If you don’t like BP that much you need to get an electric car not use alternate oil companies

drymartini, thanks, I will check into that.

@HogWild- I’m with you…passing on this deal…..
