Is Sapphire Preferred Still a Good Deal?
Yes! While it’s not good news that the minimum spending has increased, the Sapphire Preferred is still 1 of my favorite cards for getting Big Travel with Small Money.
That’s because the Sapphire Preferred allows you to transfer your Chase Ultimate Rewards points earned with any card to partner airlines and hotels.
And I like being able to use this card overseas without being charged a foreign transaction fee. I also use it for rental cars because you get primary rental car insurance and 2X Chase Ultimate Rewards points.
There are plenty of ways to meet minimum spending requirements to help you get the sign-up bonus.
Previously, you received 40,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points after spending $3,000 in the first 3 months. But now you’ll have to spend $4,000 to get the sign-up bonus.
I still think the Chase Sapphire Preferred is a great card for Big Travel, so it’s worth the extra spending to get the bonus and perks.
