Via Frequent Miler, you can get 30% off purchased Choice points through November 17, 2017!
Choice hotels are often family friendly, offering perks like free breakfast. And they are nearly everywhere, including small towns where you won’t find hotels like Hyatt and Starwood. Which could come in handy if you’re visiting family and friends for the holidays!
30% Discount on Choice Points
Link: Buy Choice Points Promo
You’ll get 30% off when you purchase Choice hotel points by 11:59 pm Eastern Time on November 17, 2017. But you’ll need to buy at least 5,000 Choice points to trigger the discount. And you can only buy 50,000 Choice points per calendar year.
It’s fairly easy to get value from this promotion. For example, the EconoLodge Near the Domain – The Arboretum in Austin sells for ~$120 per night. But it only costs 8,000 Choice points!
With this deal, you can purchase 8,000 Choice hotel points for ~$62. Saving you nearly half off your stay at this particular hotel!
Just make sure to do the math for your upcoming travel before you decide whether it makes sense for you.
It could also be worth combining this deal with the current United Airlines 30% transfer bonus. For example, if you bought 5,000 Choice points, you would pay $38.50, or 0.77 cents each ($38.50 / 5,000 points). You could then transfer those points to United Airlines, and end up with 3,250 United Airlines miles with the limited time 30% transfer bonus.
That’s like buying United Airlines miles for ~1.2 cents each! Considering United Airlines regularly sells miles for 3.5 cents each (though they frequently have sales), that’s a great deal!
Choice hotel brands include:
- Ascend Collection
- Cambria Suites
- Comfort Inn
- Comfort Suites
- MainStay Suites
- Quality Inn
- Rodeway Inn
- Sleep Inn
Choice has 6,400+ hotels worldwide, from very economical to ultimate luxury. You can usually find Choice hotels in small towns where you will NOT find chains like Starwood and Hyatt hotels.
If your travel goals include visiting folks for the holidays in smaller communities, you’ll get good use from Choice points. And with some of their brands, you can use points to book directly into a suite, even if you don’t have elite status!
More Ways to Earn Choice Points
Choice points are easy to earn! You can transfer AMEX Membership Rewards to Choice at a 1:1 ratio. Or transfer points from Amtrak to Choice at a ratio of 1:3 (1 Amtrak point = 3 Choice points), if you’re an Amtrak Select or Select Plus member (or spend $20,000+ per year on the Bank of America Amtrak World MasterCard).
And if you need lots of Choice points in a hurry, you can open the Barclaycard Choice Privileges card.
Note: I do NOT recommend this card for folks new to miles and points, because there are far better credit card sign-up bonuses for beginners!
You’ll get a 30% discount when you buy Choice points through November 17 2017. But you’ll have to buy at least 5,000 points to activate the discount.
This deal could make sense for folks who need to a few more points for a specific award stay. Or, if you want to indirectly buy United Airlines miles at a big discount.
As always, I suggest doing the math to see what makes sense for you!
