Disclosure:  I don’t (as in do not) earn a referral if you sign up for the $300 Chase Freedom Card.  But it is still a good deal!

1.   $300 Chase Freedom.   The Chase Freedom with a $300 (or 30,000 point) sign-up bonus after spending $500 within 3 months is back.  This is much better than the previous version with a $250 sign-up bonus after spending $500 within 3 months.

I updated the “Bank Reward Points” credit card tabs with this offer yesterday so that you always have access to the best credit card deals!

Yes, this isn’t a particularly high sign-on bonus, but this is also a no annual fee card.  More importantly, it gets you 5% cash back (or 5X Ultimate Rewards points) for spending in certain quarterly categories which, in my opinion, provides great value for regular spenders.

If you got the $250 or $200 Chase Freedom in the last 3 months, you should send Chase a secure message (use the format below) and ask them for the extra points!

2.   75,000 point Chase Sapphire Preferred.  Frugal Travel Guy alerted me to a post on FlyerTalk about a 75,000 point targeted offer for the Chase Sapphire Preferred.

Last June, Emily got an extra 50,000 Ultimate Rewards points by asking to be matched to a targeted offer for a 100,000 Ultimate Rewards points.

I don’t know if that will happen this time, and there is a strong possibility that Chase will not match you to the 75,000 point offer.

But it doesn’t hurt to send Chase a message or to call and ask to be matched to the 75,000 point offer if you were approved for the Chase Sapphire Preferred in the last 3 months.

Update:  Many readers have commented and emailed that this didn’t work for them.  But it was worth trying!

Feel free to borrow and tweak what I wrote last time:

Dear Chase Representative,

I just last week received my new Chase Sapphire Preferred card with a sign up bonus of 50,000 points after spending $3,000.

Today, I learned of a new offer which promises 75,000 bonus points. I would be very grateful if you would extend the 75,000 bonus point offer to me as well since I just applied for the Chase Sapphire Preferred card.

I have been a long time customer of Chase, and have had my primary checking and credit card accounts with Chase for many years and hope to maintain them for many more years to come!

Kind Regards,

Bottom Line:  It doesn’t hurt to ask Chase to match you to the best current offer if you applied for a Chase credit card in the last 90 days.

I suspect that Chase will not match folks to the latest 75,000 point Sapphire Preferred offer, but it doesn’t hurt to try!  Or dream about an extra 25,000 points.

My earlier post seems to have gone missing, so posting again.

The 30K offer for the freedom card under “Best Bank Cards” is not working. I have tried multiple times for the last 18 hours and keep getting the application not identified error message on clicking the URL provided.

Million Mile Secrets

@BartNYC – Folks are sending secure messages after logging on to the Chase website.

@natty – I don’t know if that comes into play. Reps aren’t supposed to match to the best offer, but you could get lucky. I wouldn’t count on it, though.

@jimmy – Thanks for posting your results.

@rob @jason @ – Thanks for posting your results. I don’t have the promo code. 🙁

@Brian – I don’t really know if the bonus will increase. I suspect that you will have to call the reconsideration line, but use that to your advantage. I believe that some versions of the United targeted mailing is valid up to the end of January, but I don’t know about the version available on the United website. At some point, most of the bonuses will change, so apply for the card which you most want now. If you apply for both the Sapphire and the United, you will likely have to call the reconsideration line and depending on your profile you *may* be able to convince them to give you both cards. But I wouldn’t count on it.

@avi404 – Thanks for the post! I don’t see your earlier post in the spam bin either. I’ve updated the Freedom link, so it should be working now. Thanks for letting me know!

I’ve been wanting to get the 60k (well actually 50k) United card and the Chase Sapphired Preferred. Does anyone feel that 75k or 100k Sapphire bonuses could become reality if I wait longer?

My concerns:

1) I currently I have a rather large credit limit on my BA visa and worry I may not get approved (will have to call the reconsideration line)

2) Given my situation, am I better off applying for both UA and Sapphire cards on the same day?

3) If I wait for a larger Sapphire bonus, either the 50k could go away? Are we at risk of seeing the current UA bonus go away (I didn’t see an expiration date)

I also tried to get the 25K bump on Sapphire but they are asking for the promo/offer code does anyone have that?

denied for saph preferred + denied for reconsideration since Chase has only given me a 6k aggregate limit! smh

I emailed but got refused,

@ a1984

what you mean by that?

BRITISH AWAYS and NO FOREX are chase cards?

a1984 | January 25, 2012 at 4:37 pm |

I was approved for the bump. Here is how it worked out for me. All of which is true and I work overseas, depending on how deep they looked into my account.

“Good afternoon,

I have recently received my Sapphire Preferred credit card

with 50K UR points bonus after spend. I plan to use this

card to replace my British Airways card no ForEx amongst

other reasons. I also plan on using this card during an

upcoming trip to Spain in March.

It has been brought to my attention that a 75K UR bonus

offer has recently come into existence and I m writing to

inquire if I may be upgraded to that bonus once spend

requirements have been met. Thank you for your time.
