Now that I’m a mother, I’m always looking for hotels that are family friendly.  Having a small kitchenette and a separate bedroom and living space are added luxuries for family travel.  Being able to easily refrigerate kids’ food, milk, and clean their plates and cups is a lifesaver.  Plus, kids sleep better when there’s a separate room or divider.  Here are my favorite family friendly hotel chains!

3 Family Friendly Hotel Chains That You Can Book With Points

1.  Hyatt House – Hyatt

Hyatt is my favorite hotel chain, and that’s because I can easily transfer points from Chase Ultimate Rewards to Hyatt.  Hyatt Houses are one of their more family friendly brands.  The hotel’s studios and suites include up to two bedrooms, plus bathrooms, separate living areas, and fully equipped kitchens.  I love being able to put my daughter’s food in the freezer/fridge and take it out whenever we need it.

Different hotels require a different number  of points for various rooms, and some of it may depend on hotel availability.  In some searches, I was unable to book a hotel suite with a kitchenette with points.  But in other locations, I could use my points.  For example, King Suites at the Hyatt House in Dallas are only 8,000 points per night!

2.  Staybridge Suites – IHG

Staybridge Suites is another hotel chain similar to Hyatt House.  You can book a room at Staybridge Suites in Miami for 25,000 points.

The Staybridge Suites in Orlando near Sea World requires the same number of points (25,000) for a 1 bedroom suite as it does a studio suite.  These rooms would normally cost up to ~$260 if paid for with cash.

3.   Homewood Suites – Hilton

Homewood Suites is Hilton’s line of extended stay hotels.  You can book a suite at the West Palm Beach, Florida, hotel for 40,000 Hilton points.

Bottom Line

Hyatt House, Staybridge Suites, and Homewood Suite are a few family friendly hotel chains that you can book with points.  Hotel chains need to make it easier to book 1 bedroom suites with points.  Do you have a favorite hotel chain that you regularly stay at with your family?

I like your list, Emily. While not as upscale as Staybridge (and no free breakfast), Candlewood Suites – another IHG brand – has a fully equipped kitchen in every suite and there is also a shared Candlewood Cupboard (a small room with breakfast items, beverages, snacks, toiletries, etc. available any time and you charge items to your room using the honor system). By the way, I think the heading for #1 should say Hyatt “House” (not “Place”).

Thank you! Candlewood Suites does sound like a great option. I’ll make the update!
