National Grandparents Day is today, Sunday, September 9.  About 4 million greeting cards are sent within the US each year on this day, but we prefer doing a little more to celebrate grandparents.  Here are our favorite 3 ways to show your grandparents you love them AND earn miles and points for travel!

1.   Treat Them to Their Favorite Restaurant

One of my favorite memories with my Grandma Vena is taking her to the Empress Tea Room in Tampa, Florida.  We had an amazing time enjoying scones, petit fours, mini sandwiches, and tea.  Ask your grandparents what their favorite restaurant is, and use your Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card to earn 2 points per $1 on dining.

2.   Take Them to a Show

Lots of small cities have small performing arts companies that hold ballets, operas, and musicals.  Consider taking grandma and grandpa to see classic favorites like 42nd Street, Chicago, or Jersey Boys.  Purchase tickets with your Capital One® Savor® Cash Rewards Credit Card to get 4% cash back on entertainment.

3.   Send Them Flowers

If you don’t live close to your grandparents, consider sending them flowers or gift baskets full of treats.  If you purchase the flowers through the Chase Ultimate Rewards shopping portal, you can often earn 20 points per $1.

Bottom Line

Show your grandparents you care by treating them at their favorite restaurant, taking them to a show, or sending them flowers if they live far away.  You can earn credit card rewards points that you can then turn into Big Travel with Small Money.
