Via Deals We Like, IHG is having a 25% off flash sale on Points & Cash reservations.  This is great news, because it allows you to “buy” IHG points at the lowest price we’ve ever seen!  I’ll explain.

3 Days Only Buy IHG Points For The Cheapest Price EVER
Use a Reservation at the InterContinental Kansas City At The Plaza to “Buy” IHG Points for Especially Cheap With the Points & Cash Trick!

25% Off Cash Portion of IHG Cash & Points Bookings

Link:   IHG Points & Cash Trick

For 3 days only, you’ll get a 25% discount on the cash price of an IHG Cash & Points booking.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • You must book by October 26, 2017
  • Your stay must occur by December 31, 2017
  • The 25% discount applies only to the cash cost of the room (no discount on points)
  • The Venetian and the Palazzo hotels are NOT eligible for this deal

Previously, the best deal I’ve seen for Cash & Points bookings was 20% off.  So this is the best offer yet!

This Promotion Makes the IHG “Points & Cash Trick” Even Better

You can usually buy IHG points for 1.15 to 1.35 cents each.  But by using the IHG Points & Cash trick, you can “buy” points for as little as 0.57 cents each!

For example, an award night at the InterContinental Kansas City At The Plaza normally costs 40,000 IHG points.  And a Points & Cash booking costs 20,000 IHG points plus $115.

If you booking using Points & Cash and cancel your booking, you won’t get a refund on the cash portion.  Instead, you’ll get to keep the points.

3 Days Only Buy IHG Points For The Cheapest Price EVER
You’ll Automatically See the 25% Discount When Choosing Your Rate

So, using the Points & Cash Trick, you’re basically purchasing 20,000 IHG points (40,000 IHG points – 20,000 IHG points) for $115.  That’s ~0.57 cents per point ($115 cash portion / 20,000 IHG points).

But if you stack this promotion AND the Points & Cash trick, you’ll pay even less for your IHG points!

Because with this deal, you’ll get 25% off the $115 cost of the cash portion of the booking (~$86).  So you’re essentially “buying” those same 20,000 IHG points for ~$86, or ~0.43 cents per point.

Plus, folks with the Chase IHG card get an additional 10% rebate on redeemed points (up to 100,000 IHG points a year). 😉

I don’t recall ever seeing a lower price for IHG points!

This is a great way to use this limited-time promotion to “buy” IHG points you can use long after the promotion ends.  For things like IHG PointBreaks, where you can stay at participating IHG hotels for just 5,000 IHG points per night!

If you buy IHG points with this promotion and the “Points & Cash trick”, you’ll be paying ~$22 for 5,000 IHG points.  Meaning you can “buy” a night at a participating IHG PointBreaks hotel for just $22!

Bottom Line

IHG is giving a 25% discount on the cash portion of Points & Cash bookings.  But you must book by October 26, 2017, and stay by December 31, 2017.

A 25% discount is great!  But the exciting part is that you can use this discount to “buy” points for EXTRA cheap by using the IHG Cash & Points Trick.

Date mis-match:
Offer Page: through October 26
T+C: Must book between 10/2417-10/28/17 (i.e. October 28)

Also not showing for me, so seems targeted, but while there is no clear mention of targeting in the (very basic) T+C’s they do refer to ‘Cardmember Agreement’.

“Consult Rewards Program Rules and Regulations and product brochure, or your Cardmember Agreement, as applicable, for details.”

Doesn’t work for me. Tried multiple browsers multiple times using all of my family member’s accounts multiple times since bloggers started posting about it yesterday and it does not give any discount. Must be targeted or another symptom of IHG IT flakiness. Frustrating.

Other sites are reporting this is targeted and not for everyone. That information should have been provided in the article.

I put the exact same date and location however mine says 20000 points for $125. Even tried different dates and location, still not seeing the discount

This promotion has been there for two weeks already. Before it was for card holders only, I guess now it is for everyone.
