I am not sure how long this “deal” will last and if it will be honored, but Mommy Points informs us that the Aloft in Austin is offering 250 points to everyone who “likes” their Facebook page by July 31, 2011.

Update: Swag and John (thanks!) alerted us that the offer terms were changed and this deal ended today at 10:00 am CST – instead of on July 31, 2011.

If you decide to take part, do it QUICK!  And know that there is a good chance that you may not see those 250 SPG points.

Here’s what the Aloft Austin’s Facebook page entry says on July 11, 2011:

We have friends, but now we need fans! Our Facebook is officially moving to our new fan page. “Like” Aloft Austin at the Domain now through July 31st, and receive 250 SPG bonus points! Email your name & SPG number to krista.langley@aloftaustinatthedomain.com and we will verify that your points have been added.

This is a bit cumbersome because not only do you have to “like” the page, but you also have to email your name and SPG number to the hotel – specifically to krista.langley@aloftaustinatthedomain.com

250 Free SPG Points For Liking The Aloft Austin

I didn’t take part in the previous free SPG point offerings, but after today’s interview with Deals We Like, I decided to give it a shot!

Mommy Points says that it may take a week or two for the points to post.

(Hat Tip to Mommy Points!)

Thanks so much for saving a screenshot. I decided to follow-up with the main office since I never heard anything from the Aloft. Providing the screenshot earned us some free points, even though we followed the initial terms of the promo and should have received them without asking.

Darius, that was a perfect post! I missed the deal by about an hour, but my 2000 Four Points Chicago SPG points posted yesterday, so I am happy about that! You win some, you lose some! YMMV! thanks!

@worldtraveller2 – I’m happy that you got the 2000 points. Perhaps I should post these deals more often then, but emphasis that you have to get in early to get the points!

Just saw message on Facebook that they are closing this deal at 10 AM today!

As predicted:

We love our Aloft fans!! Hurry up and get your points for “liking” us as this promotion ends sharply at 10am TODAY! Please send your SPG member number to krista.langley@aloftaustinatthedomain.com. Don’t forget you can still earn an additional 250 SPG points by checking into our property on Foursquare when you stay with us! Breeze on by for Happy Hour tonight from 5-8pm! HAPPY FRIDAY, y’all!!

@Mommy Points – Thanks for the terrific find!

@swag – Fair point. I need to come up with a descriptor which alerts folks that the terms of the deal may change, and that they should act fast if they want to get their points.

Thanks for the update! I’ll edit the post to reflect the sudden, but not entirely unexpected, change.

Have there been any cases where the free SPG points for Facebook activity didn’t post? I know of at least 3 recent offers.

– Charlotte Westin – like (months ago)

– Charlotte Westin – photo with 50 likes

– Four Points Chicago

I got in for the first two and the points posted, no problem. I missed the last one, but haven’t heard any uproar about missing points.

The pattern on these seems to be that the hotels yank the offer early once the offer goes viral, but that they do honor the offer for those that get in before that. If so, labeling this deal as “potential dead-end” seems unfair. A better label might be “hurry, offer may end without notice”.
