I recently wrote about rumors US Bank would soon issue 2 new cards. And via Reddit, you can now apply for both!
With the U.S. Bank FlexPerks® Gold American Express® Card, you can earn 30,000 FlexPoints after meeting minimum spending requirements.
And the no-annual-fee U.S. Bank Cash 365™ American Express® Card cash back card is offering a $100 sign-up bonus after meeting the minimum spending requirements to folks who already have an existing relationship with US Bank.
Emily and I don’t earn a commission for these cards. But we’ll always tell you about the best deals!
I’ll help you decide whether these cards are right for you!
What’s the Deal?

If you like to redeem points for paid flights with no blackout dates, consider the US Bank FlexPerks Gold AMEX card. You’ll earn FlexPoints you can use towards statement credits, gift cards, or paid airline tickets.
Or, check out the US Bank Cash 365 AMEX card if you want a card with no annual fee, 1.5% cash back on all purchases, and a decent sign-up bonus.
These are NOT the best cards if you’re new to miles and points. Because there are better cards available with higher sign-up bonuses and more flexible points which CAN be transferred to airlines and hotels.
Note: Because these cards are issued by US Bank and not American Express, they will NOT be eligible for AMEX Offers.
US Bank FlexPerks Gold AMEX
With the US Bank FlexPerks Gold AMEX card, you’ll earn 30,000 FlexPoints after spending $2,000 in purchases within the first 4 months of account opening.
You’ll also get:
- 3X FlexPoints per $1 at restaurants
- 2X FlexPoints per $1 at airlines and gas stations
- 1X FlexPoint per $1 spent on all other purchases
- $25 airline credit with every award travel ticket (use towards baggage fees, in-flight food & drink, or airport lounge fees)
- Reimbursement for TSA PreCheck ($85) OR Global Entry ($100) (Remember Global Entry comes with TSA PreCheck)
There are no foreign transaction fees. But the $85 annual fee is NOT waived the first year.
FlexPoints are worth 1 cent each when used towards statement credits or gift cards. But if you redeem them for airline tickets, you could get as much as 2 cents per point, and you’ll earn airline miles on the ticket too!
You can redeem FlexPoints for paid flights on 150+ airlines, including most US airlines.
So, if you’re looking for seats during busy travel times or traveling as a group, this card could be a very good deal. Because it can sometimes be difficult to find the award seats you want.
Here’s my post explaining the details about how the FlexPerks program works. And how to get Big Travel on Southwest using US Bank FlexPerks cards.
Earn 50,000 bonus points after you spend $4,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening. That’s $625 in travel when you redeem through Chase Ultimate Rewards®.
If you prefer cash back, 50,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points is worth $500. Or it’s worth $625 towards airfare or hotels when you redeem through Chase Ultimate Rewards. Or even better, you can transfer points to airline and hotel partners like Hyatt, Southwest, and United Airlines.
The $95 annual fee is slightly higher, and you won’t get a Global Entry or TSA PreCheck credit. But the Chase Sapphire Preferred sign-up bonus is better for most folks because the points are easier to use.
US Bank Cash 365 AMEX
With the US Bank Cash 365 AMEX card, you’ll earn a $100 sign-up bonus after spending $500 in purchases within 90 days of account opening.
But you MUST have an existing relationship with US Bank to qualify for the bonus. This includes having another credit card, checking account, savings account, mortgage, or retirement account with US Bank.
This card has no annual fee. And you’ll earn 1.5% cash back on all purchases, that can be redeemed as a statement credit or deposited in a US Bank savings, checking, or money market account.
If you’re looking for simplicity and don’t want to deal with rotating bonus categories, this could be a good card for you.
You Might Like These Alternatives Better
There are other cards that earn even more cash back.
For example, the Citi Double Cash Card earns 1% cash back when you make a purchase and another 1% back when you pay it off. But there’s no sign-up bonus.
And the Discover it® Cash Back card earns 5% cash back in categories that change each quarter (on up to $1,500 in spending per quarter). And 1% cash back on all other purchases with no limit to how much you can earn. You’ll earn $50 cash back when you sign-up and make your first purchase.
Plus, new cardholders will have their cash back matched by Discover at the end of the first 12 billing cycles. This includes cash back earned from the sign-up bonus, Discover Deals, and rotating category bonuses!
That said, I’d prefer a cash back card like the Chase Freedom or Chase Freedom Unlimited. Because they earn (my favorite!) Chase Ultimate Rewards points. And also currently offer a higher $150 (15,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points) sign-up bonus after meeting minimum spending requirements.
And when you also have the Chase Sapphire Preferred, Chase Ink Plus, or Chase Ink Bold (no longer available) card, you can transfer your Ultimate Rewards points to travel partners for Big Travel!
With the new US Bank FlexPerks Gold AMEX card, you’ll earn 30,000 FlexPoints after meeting minimum spending requirements. The $85 annual fee is NOT waived the first year.
If you are looking for a card that earns points you can use for paid airline tickets, or already have lots of cards and are looking for something new, this card might be worth considering.
If you’re looking for a no-annual-fee card that earns a decent cash-back rate, consider the US Bank Cash 365 AMEX card.
It comes with a $100 sign-up bonus after meeting spending requirements. And you’ll earn 1.5% cash back on all purchases with no rotating bonus categories to track. But you must already have an existing relationship with US Bank, like having a US Bank credit card, checking, or savings account, to qualify for the bonus.
We don’t earn a commission for these 2 US Bank cards but we’ll always tell you about the best deals!
