Earlier this month I wrote about the US Bank Club Carlson card free night perk ending on June 1, 2015.
And now you have 1 month left to take advantage of this benefit before it’s gone!
But you may get compensation from US Bank due to this change!
US Bank Club Carlson Card – Free Night Perk Ending Soon!

My favorite benefit of the US Bank Club Carlson card is the free last night when you book 2 or more consecutive award nights! Unfortunately, this perk is coming to an end on June 1, 2015.
So you have 1 month left to book your Club Carlson stays to still get a free night.
And there are still opportunities to earn Big Travel with this card.
New Incentive – 1 Free Night per Year
While it’s not as good as earning a free night each time you book 2 or more consecutive awards nights, a new benefit of 1 free night per year will take its place.
Starting June 1, 2015, you can earn a 1 free night certificate (good for US Club Carlson hotels only) when you spend $10,000 on your US Bank Club Carlson card within 12 months and pay the $75 annual fee.
Ask for Compensation for This Change
Via Doctor of Credit, some folks have called US Bank to voice their disappointment with losing the free night perk and have received compensation such as:
- 2,500 Club Carlson bonus points
- 7,500 Club Carlson bonus points
- Annual fee waived
So it may be worth calling the number on the back of your card, even to get a few bonus points!
I recommend being kind and polite to the folks on the other end of the line. Explain that you paid the annual fee expecting that certain benefits come with the card and you’d like to know if they can offer you anything to make up for these changes.
If the person you speak with isn’t helpful, you can call back later.
Bottom Line
With the US Bank Club Carlson card you get the last night free on any award stay of 2 or more consecutive nights. This valuable perk is coming to an end June 1, 2015.
But you can still get the free night on stays through May 2016, as long as you book before June 1, 2015.
It’s worth calling the number on the back of your card to see if you can get a few extra points or your annual fee waived due to this change!
