How and when did you start collecting miles and points?
I started collecting miles with a American Express Delta card welcome bonus in 2008. Before that, I accumulated miles, but rarely enough for a free flight. I didn’t collect hotel points until 2013.
Why did you start your blog? What’s special about it?
I started my blog to relate travel stories and tips. I’ve always loved exploring new places. I’m thankful I’ve had the opportunity to travel widely.
I hope to set my blog apart by telling colorful stories, taking the reader to a certain locale. Two articles featured Jerusalem and Athens, and the next is on the Sinai Peninsula.
What’s the one single thing people can do to get more miles?
Sign-up for credit card offers. The less obvious is make every purchase with a rewards-earning credit card. Be strategic. Plan it out.
What’s your most memorable travel experience?
Wandering the streets of Jerusalem. It’s an enchanting place.
What do your family and friends think of your miles & points hobby?
I’m passionate. They look to my guidance. My father has collected longer than me.
Is there any tool or trick which you’ve found especially useful in this hobby?
Reading blogs on miles and points for the latest deals and promotions. Million Mile Secrets was the 1st blog I turned to for advice. Enroll in loyalty programs. They’re free and rewarding.
What was the least expected way you’ve earned miles or points?
An American Express agent asked if she could give me bonus Starwood points for my loyalty.
What do you now know about collecting miles and points which you wish you knew when you started out?
Buy every item or service with a rewards earning credit card. Each purchase has a specific card that will maximize rewards. Don’t pay cash unless it means significant savings. Pay credit card bills on time.What would your readers be surprised to know about you?
I have a Juris Doctor (JD) in Law. I’ve never practiced.
Travel is my joie de vivre (joy of living).
