My partner and I flew to Costa Rica for our 3rd anniversary for only ~$20! We used Chase Ultimate Rewards points that we transferred (free!) to Southwest. We chose Costa Rica because we’ve never been there before, and thought there would be plenty to keep us busy. We had a fantastic time white water rafting, walking over bridges suspended from trees, and enjoying the beautiful scenery.
7 Top Adventure Activities in Costa Rica
According to Sky Adventures, the tour company offering flyboard sessions, “You’ll fly over 32 ft. (10 m.) above water, swimming like a dolphin. You can also compete with your friend on whether who can stay up the longest, riding a Flyboard is an experience like none other!”
2. Sky Limit
Sky Adventures also offers Sky Limit, which is “a high performance circuit that combines a high ropes course, zip lines, canyoning, rappel, Tarzan swing, bridges and many challenging activities in the heart of the rainforest.”
3. Swing Extremo
This is a Tarzan style swing fall from a tram ~470 feet high. You can book through Monteverde Extremo Park.
I loved my experience ziplining. Costa Rica started the trend, and you can book tours through lots of companies. The original company (hence the name) is the Original Canopy Tour Company.
5. White Water Rafting
I rafted for the first time in Costa Rica on this trip, and it was such a fun experience. It wasn’t as “death-defying” as I originally thought, and our boat never capsized. Still, we got to meet new friends, and try something new! Book through Aguas Bravas.
6. Hanging Bridge Canopy Tours
Probably the most relaxing of the group (unless you’re afraid of heights), this tour lasted about ~3 hours. You’ll cross ~8 hanging bridges, and the views are fantastic. Book through Selvatura Park.
7. Arboreal Tours
Sky Adventures offers Arboreal Tours. According to their website, “a total of 7 trees are available, all with different heights, difficulty and different experiences. Climbers go up real trees equipped with handholds that are attached with straps, preventing any damage or harm to the tree.”
