These are just a few of the many ways you can redeem the sign-up bonus to save on flights!

1.   Easily Save $600 to $700 Using Delta Pay With Miles

If you don’t have flexibility with your travel dates or want to avoid spending time searching for award flights, AMEX Delta cardholders can quickly redeem miles using Pay With Miles.

I shared a step-by-step guide to using Pay With Miles and explained how the limited-time AMEX Delta card sign-up bonuses can save you $600 to $700 off Delta flights.

For example, I found round-trip coach flights from Atlanta to New York in January 2018 for less than $200.  With the 70,000-mile sign-up bonus on the Platinum Delta SkyMiles® Credit Card from American Express, you’d be able to cover the cost of flights for 3 passengers using Pay With Miles and have no out-of-pocket expense!

There Are Plenty of Cheap Round-Trip Flights From Atlanta to New York! The Limited-Time AMEX Delta Platinum Card Sign-Up Bonus Could Cover the Cost for 3 Travelers!

Remember, you can use Pay With Miles to fully or partially pay for a ticket.  And because these are paid (NOT award) tickets, you’ll earn miles and elite qualifying miles & dollars for your flight!

2.   It’s Super Easy to Redeem Miles for Award Flights!

Even though Delta no longer publishes an award chart, booking an award flight isn’t difficult.  Here’s a post with helpful tips for searching for Delta award flights.

And there are some perks to booking Delta award flights, like:

  • You can book round-trip OR one-way flights
  • Delta does NOT charge last-minute booking fees
  • Delta does not charge a telephone booking fee, so call 800-221-1212 if you need help booking your flights!

So you could plan a last-minute weekend trip to destinations like San Francisco and quickly redeem Delta miles to book your flight!

I found LOTS of available award seats on flights from Los Angeles to San Francisco.  Million Mile Secrets team member Keith has traveled along this route many times for quick weekend trips to explore the Bay Area and ride bikes over the Golden Gate Bridge.

You can book a round-trip award flight on this route for 10,000 Delta miles and ~$11 in taxes and fees.  That’s a great deal!

This means earning 60,000 to 70,000 Delta miles with the limited-time AMEX Delta card sign-up bonuses could cover the cost of several flights on similar short-haul routes!

3.   One Sign-Up Bonus Could Even Get You a Round-Trip Flight to Europe!

Are you looking to fly to Europe?  The best-ever AMEX Delta card sign-up bonuses can help you get there for cheap!

For example, I found many award seats available in coach on round-trip flights from Salt Lake City to Paris in May 2018.  There are also seats available on flights departing from other Delta hubs like New York, Atlanta, and Minneapolis!

You’ll pay 60,000 Delta miles and ~$85 in taxes and fees for a ticket.  That’s better than paying ~$1,300+ out-of-pocket for the same flight.

You Dont Have To Be A Points Expert To Use The Delta AMEX Bonus For Cheap Flights
Use the AMEX Delta Card Sign-Up Bonuses for a Round-Trip Award Flight to Paris and Enjoy Galeries Lafayette, One of Emily’s Mom’s Favorite Shopping Spots!

You can read about Emily’s mother-daughter trip to Paris for ways to save on hotels.  And recommendations for sights to see in the beautiful city!

Also, remember that it’s easy to travel around Europe on budget airlines or by train.  So you can use Delta miles to travel to one destination in Europe (like Paris) and continue on to your final destination cheaply.  For example, Million Mile Secrets team member Harlan took the high-speed Thalys train from Brussels to Amsterdam!

Bottom Line

Even if you’ve never earned a sign-up bonus with a rewards credit card, the AMEX Delta card limited-time offers make it quick and easy to save money on flights.

The simplest way for AMEX Delta cardholders to redeem miles is using Pay With Miles.  The best-ever AMEX Delta card offers can save you $600 to $700 off Delta flights.  This could cover 3 round-trip flights from Atlanta to New York!

Or consider booking Delta award flights to get even more value from the limited-time sign-up bonuses.  For example, you can redeem miles for short-haul award flights from Los Angeles and San Francisco.  Or even book a round-trip award flight to Europe!

Is Amex having a delay in posting the bonus miles? They had a pretty similar offer about 4 months ago, and the bonus miles have yet to post. I have read on different forums that this is an ongoing problem lately. I would like the hubby to apply for the Platinum since he’s never had it before, but the delay in the bonus miles has gotten me worried. What are your thoughts about this and have you heard about this issue? Thanks!

Million Mile Secrets

Generally, the sign-up bonus miles should post to your account within 6 to 8 weeks after meeting the minimum spending requirements. I recommend contacting AMEX by phone or through the online chat feature to inquire about the timing of your sign-up bonus.
