I’ll tell you what you need to know.  And remind you why Iberia Avios points are valuable!

Brand New Chase Iberia Plus Card

We don’t talk about Iberia Avios points very often.  But they can be a valuable part of your strategy to get Big Travel with Small Money!  So the latest credit card from Chase is an exciting one.

The Chase Iberia Plus card comes with a sign-up bonus of up to 75,000 Iberia Avios points after meeting tiered spending requirements.  You’ll earn 50,000 Iberia Avios points after spending $3,000 on purchases within the first 3 months of account opening.  And another 25,000 Iberia Avios points after spending $10,000 on purchases within the first year of opening your account..

You’ll also get:

  • 3 Iberia Avios points per $1 spent on Iberia, British Airways, Aer Lingus, LEVEL, and OpenSkies purchases
  • 1 Iberia Avios point per $1 spent on everything else
  • $1,000 discount voucher to use towards 2 tickets on the same flight after spending $30,000 on purchases in a calendar year
  • 10% off Iberia flights when you purchase with your card at iberia.com/chase10
  • NO foreign transaction fees

The card comes with a $95 annual fee, NOT waived the first year.

Is This a Good Deal?

The card looks very similar to the Chase British Airways Visa Signature Card, which also earns Avios points.  And folks online are reporting the Chase Iberia Plus card is NOT impacted by the Chase “5/24 rule”.

British Airways and Iberia share the same loyalty program.  Because you can transfer points between Iberia and British Airways, you can view this card’s sign-up bonus to be worth as much as 75,000 British Airways Avios points.

But Iberia Avios points can even be worth MORE.  So this card could definitely be worthwhile!

The information for the Chase Iberia Plus card and the British Airways Visa card has been collected independently by Million Mile Secrets. The card details on this page have not been reviewed or provided by the card issuer.

Iberia Avios Points Are Worth More Than British Airways Avios Points for Short-Haul Domestic Flights!

For example, using Iberia Avios points instead of British Airways Avios points can save you 4,000 points on a short-haul round-trip award flights on partner American Airlines within the US.  British Airways charges a minimum of 15,000 British Airways Avios points for a short round-trip flight within North America, while Iberia charges 11,000 Iberia Avios points for flights 600 miles or less!

Iberia recently became a transfer partner of Chase Ultimate Rewards.  And you can also transfer AMEX Membership Rewards points to Iberia Avios points at a 1:1 ratio.

Check out my post on transferring Avios points between your British Airways and Iberia accounts.

Bottom Line

Chase has released a new card!  The Chase Iberia Plus comes with 50,000 Iberia Avios points after spending $3,000 on purchases in the first 3 months of account opening.  And another 25,000 Iberia Avios points after spending $10,000 on purchases within the first year.

Iberia Avios points can be very valuable if you know how to use them!  So I think this card is worth a look.

But I do NOT recommend this card if you’re new to the miles & points hobby.  Because there are credit cards with more valuable sign-up bonuses and benefits that you should open first.

I love when banks give us more options to earn miles & points!  So this is an exciting announcement.

Emily and I don’t get a commission for this card, but we’ll always tell you about the best deals!
