I can nearly guarantee three things:
- You know hardly anything about Wells Fargo points
- You don’t have any Wells Fargo points
- You don’t care to collect Wells Fargo points
Quite understandable, those three. Miles and points blogs rarely address the topic — but you’re about to carve seven minutes out of your schedule to further round your knowledge of the miles and points world. Wells Fargo Go Far Rewards can be quite useful. They operate very similarly to cash back credit cards. In fact, Wells Fargo Go Far Rewards earning cards are even near the top of our list of the best cash back cards.
I’ll tell you everything you need to know about Wells Fargo Go Far Rewards.
How to earn Wells Fargo Go Far Rewards
The fastest way to earn Wells Fargo points is by opening the following cards.

These cards earn Go Far Rewards, though sometimes marketed as cash back. Both have no annual fee — staggering when you see some of the benefits that come with these cards (like complimentary cell phone protection!). How much are Wells Fargo points worth?
Wells Fargo points are almost always worth 1 cent each, no matter how you redeem them. However, the Wells Fargo Visa Signature® provides a value of 1.5 cents per point when redeeming towards airfare. If you don’t have that card, count on 1 cent each. In other words, earning 3 points per dollar is the equivalent of earning 3% cash back.

How to redeem my Go Far Rewards for travel
Via your Wells Fargo online account, you can choose to redeem your points for travel by clicking “Use Your Rewards” at a rate of 1 cent each. You’ll be able to book hotels, flights, even vacation packages through the site. In other words, if you’ve got 20,000 Wells Fargo points, you can take $200 off your next flight.
We don’t normally recommend using your points this way, because you won’t earn points on your travel purchase. For example, if you’ve got the Wells Fargo Propel, you’d earn 600 points on a $200 flight. But if you redeem your points, you won’t earn anything. Better to just purchase your flight with your Wells Fargo card and redeem your points for a statement credit to offset the bill.
Again, the Wells Fargo Visa Signature® card will provide you a value of 1.5 cents per point for airfare — the obvious best route if you’ve got it.
How do I get my cash back rewards from Wells Fargo?
With all the below options, you’ll receive a value of 1 cent per point.
Statement credit
You can redeem your Wells Fargo points in increments of $25 to be directly applied to your qualifying Wells Fargo account. Alternately, you can ask that the bank mail you a check. You’ll find this option online under “Redeem to Account,” or you can call Wells Fargo and they’ll do it for you.
Cash back
You can withdraw your Wells Fargo points from an ATM if you also have a Wells Fargo ATM or debit card. Just remember that you must cash out your points in 2,000 increments. If you don’t have $20 worth of points, you’ll have to wait until you earn more.
Gift cards
You can redeem your points for gift cards at a rate of 1 cent each. Similar to the travel option, it’s better to simply pay at the restaurant and earn points, and later offset that transaction with a statement credit.
How to transfer Wells Fargo Go Far Rewards
A superpower of the Wells Fargo Go Far program is that you can seamlessly transfer points to other Wells Fargo cardholders for absolutely free. In fact, you can even transfer points if you’re technically collecting different Wells Fargo currencies. Mad, I know!
For example, if your family member has a Wells Fargo points earning card and you have a Wells Fargo cash back card, you can transfer your cash to your family member, and they’ll receive them as points in their account. This is great if you’re trying to redeem a big purchase. But it’s especially fantastic for those who have the previously mentioned Wells Fargo Visa Signature, as it increases the value of Wells Fargo Go Far Rewards by 50% when redeeming for airfare.
Bottom line
Wells Fargo Go Far Rewards are points essentially equivalent to 1 cent each. Depending on the Wells Fargo cards you hold, you can potentially receive more value from them, but the vast majority will receive 1 cent when redeeming for:
- Travel
- Cash back
- Statement credits
- Gift cards
