Via Doctor of Credit, you can earn 1,750 Southwest points per order of ~$30 or more from 1-800-Flowers.
Use promotion code “RR36” to get the bonus for orders placed by February 14, 2015.
This is a fantastic way to make your loved ones happy on Valentine’s Day AND earn points toward the Southwest Companion Pass.
You can even stack this promotion with other offers to make it an even sweeter deal. I’ll show you how!
How Does It Work?

When you place your 1-800-Flowers order, use promotion code “RR36” at check-out to earn 1,750 Southwest points on orders of ~$30 or more. You’ll also be prompted for your Southwest account number.
Bonus points can take up to 8 weeks to post to your account. But in my experience, it only takes ~2 weeks. And the points count toward the Southwest Companion Pass!
Southwest points are worth ~1.43 cents each, so 1,750 points is worth ~$25 in Southwest airfare (1,750 points x 1.43 cents each). So if you order an item that costs exactly $30, your net cost is only $5!
To avoid shipping costs, it’s worth signing-up for the 1-800-Flowers Celebrations Rewards program. For ~$30, you’ll get free shipping and no service charges from 1-800-Flowers for an entire year.
Plus you’ll earn Celebrations Rewards points on every purchase which you can cash in for flowers or fun stuff like fancy chocolates, gourmet gift baskets, and cookies.
Remember, 1-800-Flowers sells more than bouquets! You can order fruit baskets, baked goods, and more!
Why Is This a Good Deal for the Companion Pass?
I’ve experimented with 1-800-Flowers to see if bonus points earned through their promotions count toward the Southwest Companion Pass.
In fact, you could earn the Companion Pass starting with ZERO points if you made 63 orders of at least ~$30 each to earn a total of 110,250 points (63 orders x 1,750 points per order).
At $30 per order, you’d pay ~$1,900 total (63 orders x $30). But the 110,250 points you’d get are worth ~$1,577 in Southwest airfare (110,250 points x 1.43 cents per point).
And because you’ll earn the Companion Pass, your points are potentially worth close to double that because your companion flies with you almost free on paid and award tickets.
This could be worth it for folks who know they’ll do a lot of domestic traveling together.
Folks who sign-up for two 50,000 point Southwest credit cards earn a total of 104,000 Southwest points after meeting minimum spending requirements. That’s 6,000 points short of the 110,000 you need to qualify for the Companion Pass.
You could spend another $6,000 on your Southwest credit cards to earn the remaining 6,000 points. But this is a much easier way!
By placing just 4 orders of ~$30 or more, you’ll earn 7,000 bonus points (4 orders x 1,750 points per order). You’ll recoup most of your ~$120 cost because those points are worth ~$100 towards Southwest airfare (7,000 points x 1.43 cents per point).
And they’re worth almost double that if you earn the Companion Pass, because your companion flies with you for nearly free on both paid and award tickets!
So you could:
- Get the sign-up bonus from 2 Southwest credit cards
- Order ~$120 worth of flowers, sweets, and gifts
- Spend ~$30 for free shipping (which normally costs ~$15 per order or more)
That’s ~$150 total and you get
- 2-for-1 travel anywhere Southwest flies for at least 1 year (or more!)
- Southwest points worth $100 for flights
- A happy person you made feel special with your
strategicthoughtful gifts!
How to Sweeten the Deal
There’s currently an AMEX Offer for $15 off a $50 purchase at 1-800-Flowers. Check your AMEX account to see if you’re targeted! So if you use your synced American Express card you could save money!
Bottom Line
You’ll earn 1,750 Southwest points with every order of ~$30 or more from 1-800-Flowers until February 14, 2015. Enter promotion code “RR36” when you check-out to get the bonus.
This is a fantastic deal! 1,750 points is worth ~$25 in Southwest airfare. And they count toward the Southwest Companion Pass!
You can make the deal even better by stacking it with AMEX Offers. And remember, 1-800-Flowers sells other items that make fun presents, like baked goods, gift baskets, and treats.
Emily, my gift to you this Valentine’s Day isn’t really the flowers and candy, it’s our next trip together using Southwest points!
