Good news for all the Citi ThankYou points collectors out there!
The Citi ThankYou Premier is now offering 30,000 Citi ThankYou points after spending $3,000 on purchases within 3 months of account opening.
That’s worth a minimum of $375 in travel (with NO blackout dates) when you book through the Citi ThankYou Travel Center. And potentially much more if you transfer them to to airline partners!
I’ll share the details of the Citi ThankYou Premier card. And help you decide whether it’s right for you!

With the Citi ThankYou Premier, you can earn 30,000 Citi ThankYou points after spending $3,000 on purchases within the first 3 months of opening your account. The card has offered NO sign-up bonus in recent months, so 30,000 ThankYou points is a welcome addition!
You’ll also get nice benefits, like:
- 3X Citi ThankYou points per $1 spent on travel (including gas stations, airfare, hotels, cruises, car rental agencies, travel agencies, railways, public transportation, tolls, taxis, parking, and more)
- 2X Citi ThankYou points per $1 spent on dining and entertainment (amusement parks, museums, sporting events, movies, and more)
- No foreign transaction fees
Plus, the $95 annual fee is waived the first year.
Note: You can NOT earn the sign-up bonus for any Citi credit card if you’ve either opened or closed a card of the same “brand” in the past 24 months. So if you’ve opened or closed a Citi ThankYou Premier, Citi Prestige, or Citi ThankYou Preferred card in the past 24 months, you’re not eligible for the bonus on the Citi ThankYou Premier.
What Can You Do With 30,000 Citi ThankYou Points?
Here are my 2 favorite ways to use Citi ThankYou points!
1. Book Travel Through Citi’s Travel Center
You can use 30,000 Citi ThankYou points to book up to $375 in travel. That’s because you can redeem points you earn on the Citi ThankYou Premier for 1.25 cents each when you use them to buy things like airfare, hotels, cruises, etc. through the Citi ThankYou portal.
Plus, you won’t have to worry about blackout dates or available award seats.
2. Transfer Points to Travel Partners
When you have the Citi ThankYou Premier, you can transfer your Citi ThankYou points to airline partners for Big Travel.
For example, you can transfer points to Singapore Airlines for flights to Hawaii on United Airlines. Or you can transfer them to Flying Blue to book Promo Awards (discounted awards to Europe on Air France and KLM).
Is It Worth It?
This 30,000 point sign-up bonus is a dramatic improvement over the previous offer (NO sign-up bonus). But we’ve seen higher offers in the past.
I think Citi ThankYou points are the weakest of all the flexible points currencies. That’s because they have fewer helpful transfer partners. But they’re still valuable!
Plus, if you have other cards that earn Citi ThankYou points, like the Citi Prestige or Citi ThankYou Preferred, you can combine points from other ThankYou points earning cards. Which will help you get Big Travel sooner!
Bottom Line
You can now earn 30,000 Citi ThankYou points when you sign-up for the Citi ThankYou Premier card and spend $3,000 on purchases within the first 3 months of opening your account.
30,000 Citi ThankYou points are worth $375 in travel (airfare, hotels, car rentals, etc.) when you book through the Citi Travel Center. Or you can transfer to airline partners for flights spots like Asia and Europe.
Emily and I don’t get a commission for this card, but we’ll always alert you when there’s an opportunity to get Big Travel with Small Money!
Let me know if you plan to apply!
