Signing-up for credit cards through partner links earns us a commission. Here’s our full Advertising Policy.
Or you can earn 60,000 bonus points with our link, if you prefer online applications or don’t have a Chase branch nearby. It’s still a great deal!
I’ll show you how you can use the limited time in-branch sign-up bonus to save $875 off nearly any airline (or $750 off with our link). Without having to search for award tickets or worry about blackout dates!
The Chase Ink Plus Card
With the current in-branch offer for the Ink Plus card you can:
Earn 70,000 bonus points after you spend $5,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening.
Earn 5 points per $1 on the first $50,000 spent in combined purchases at office supply stores and on cellular phone, landline, internet and cable TV services each account anniversary year. Earn 2 points per $1 on the first $50,000 spent in combined purchases at gas stations and hotel accommodations when purchased directly with the hotel each account anniversary year. Earn 1 point per $1 on all other purchases – with no limit to the amount you can earn.
And don’t forget, lots of for-profit ventures qualify as a small business. In general, it’s best to show that you have an active and growing small business. You can apply with your social security number if you’re a sole proprietor.
If you’re thinking about other cards, starting with the Ink Plus card first is a good choice. Because with Chase’s stricter approval rules, if you’ve opened more than ~5 credit cards within the past 24 months from ANY bank (except these business cards), it’s likely you will NOT be approved for most Chase cards.
And if you don’t have a small business, I’d suggest the Chase Sapphire Preferred instead. It’s my favorite card for folks new to the miles & points hobby. You can read my review of the card here.
How the Chase Ink Plus Gets You $875 Off (Almost!) Any Airline
My favorite use of Chase Ultimate Rewards points is transferring them to travel partners like United Airlines or Hyatt for Big Travel with Small Money. That’s what I’ve done to travel in First Class and stay in luxurious hotel suites.
But sometimes, folks find it’s easier and more convenient to book flights through the Chase Travel Portal. Especially if they don’t want the hassle of searching for award seats. It can be challenging if you’re flying with a group or during busy travel times.
70,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards Points gets you $875 worth of flights (or any travel) booked through the Chase portal. That’s because each point is worth 1.25 cents toward paid flights, hotels, and more.
You’ll even earn miles for your flight!
How to Book Travel With Chase Ultimate Rewards Points Through Their Portal
First, sign-in to the Chase Travel Portal using your credit card’s log-in information.
From the homepage, scroll down until you see the spot to search for travel. Add your trip details and click “Search“.
Next, you’ll see a list of flights, along with the cash price of the ticket and how many Chase Ultimate Rewards points it will cost.
I searched for a round-trip ticket from Los Angeles to Honolulu over Christmas, because award tickets are often hard to come by during the holidays!
You can see a few of the results from my search below. This includes 3 different American Airlines flights for ~$854 or 68,321 Chase Ultimate Rewards points each.
Click “Select” to add the flight you want to your cart.
From there, click “Continue”, and you’ll be able to pay for your ticket with your Chase Ultimate Rewards points! You could even decide to use fewer points and pay for part of your ticket with cash, but it’s up to you!
Note: If you can find award seats, be sure to compare prices! For example, it costs just 25,000 British Airways Avios points for a round-trip flight from the West Coast to Hawaii on partners American Airlines and Alaska Airlines. So you’d get a much better deal transferring your Chase Ultimate Rewards points to British Airways for an award flight.

You’ll earn 70,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points when you sign-up for the Ink Plus card in-branch and meet the minimum spending requirements.
That’s enough for $875 in free flights when you book your travel through the Chase Travel Portal.
I greatly prefer to transfer my Chase Ultimate Rewards points to airline and hotel partners for Big Travel. But some folks find redeeming points through Chase’s Travel Portal more convenient. Because they don’t have to search for award seats, and it can be easier to find flights during busy travel times.
Let me know if you’ve had luck finding deals through the Chase Travel Portal!
