Update:   The Chase Ink Plus 70,000 point offer is no longer available, but check Hot Deals for the latest offers!

The 70,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points for signing-up for the Chase Ink Plus card can get you Big Travel when you transfer them to partner airlines.

Note: The Chase Ink Plus 70,000 point bonus offer ends on October 19, 2014.

But for folks who want to travel regardless of blackout dates, you can get a simple 20% discount on redeemed points on all flights (or hotels, car rentals etc.) listed in the Chase travel portal.

You can get 70,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points after spending $5,000 in the 1st 3 months on the Chase Ink Plus card.

The Chase Ink Plus card is 1 of my favorite cards because you get:

  • 5X Chase Ultimate Rewards points per $1 you spend at office supply stores, and on cable, internet, and wireless purchases
  • 2X Chase Ultimate Rewards points per $1 you spend at gas stations and hotels (booked directly with the hotel)
  • NO foreign transaction fees (great for using outside the US)

If you’re a Big Spender, you can earn 250,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards point at office supply stores each year.

70,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards Points gets you $875 worth of travel booked through the Chase Ultimate Rewards Mall.  Although I prefer to transfer my Chase Ultimate Rewards points to airline and hotel partners.  That’s because you can get First Class flights and great hotels that way.

But some folks like the simplicity of quickly saving 20% in redeemed points on nearly any flight.

Emily and I love using Chase Ultimate Rewards points for flights and hotel stays.  We transferred Chase Ultimate Rewards points to United Airlines and flew Business Class to India.

You can also transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards points to British Airways Avios points for short flights in the US.

When you transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards points to airlines, your travel plans should be flexible.  Because it can be hard to find flights to popular destinations during peak dates.

For folks who want to travel without restrictions, you can use the 70,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points toward $875 in airline tickets when you book through the Chase Ultimate Rewards Mall.

How to Book Your Flight

Here’s how easy it is to get $875 worth of airline tickets via the Chase Ultimate Rewards Mall.

Let’s say you wanted to fly from New York to Maui from December 6, 2014, to December 13, 2014.

This is a popular route during a peak travel time so it might be hard to find award seats when transferring points to airline mileage programs. But you won’t have that problem when you use your points through the Chase Ultimate Rewards mall.

Step 1 – Log into Your Account

Enter your User ID and password to log into Your Chase Ultimate Rewards Account.

Step 2 – Click “Book Travel”

Click “Book Travel.”

Step 3 – Search for Flights

Enter your flight details and click “Search” to look for flights.

Step 4 – Select Your Flight

Select your flight and click on “Payment Options.”

If you only wanted to use 70,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points, you can pick a flight on Delta Airlines for 62,928 Chase Ultimate Rewards points.

Step 4 – Select Your Flight

I checked the price on Kayak, and it was ~$841.  So in this case, you’re getting a good deal and you’ll save the full 20% redeeming Chase Ultimate Rewards points.

Step 5 – Click “Add to Cart”

You can choose to pay with Points + Cash or cash only.

Chase Rewards Points are easy to earn, especially when there are big sign-up bonuses.  So I chose points.

Click “Add to Cart.”

Step 6 – Click “Checkout”

Click “Checkout” to complete your purchase.

Instead of paying ~$787 for this ticket, you’d use just 62,928 Chase Ultimate Rewards points.  Those 62,928 Chase Ultimate Rewards points are worth $629.28 (1 penny per point) if you redeem them for cash back.

Bottom Line

You can get Big Travel when you transfer the 70,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points sign-up bonus from the Chase Ink Plus card to airlines.

But the flights might not be available when you can fly.

If you want to travel on nearly (because some airlines like Southwest aren’t available) any airline, anytime, you use the 70,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points towards $875 worth of travel booked through the Chase Ultimate Rewards Mall.

How have you used your Chase Ultimate Rewards points through the Chase Ultimate Rewards Mall?

This is such a great idea! I can’t believe more people don’t know about using their Chase Ink Plus points to get great Airline travel deals! The fact that you can apply points to hotels just makes it even better. I’m always nervous about signing up for new credit cards, but if the minimum is only $5,000, then I can definitely spend that in three months!! Makes me want to run and sign up right now so I can get my flight points for the holidays!

@Doug – Correct!

@ Alise – It is possible for a second business.

@Jim – I’d pick a version which gets you more benefits.

Does it make sense to have both the visa and mastercard versions of this? I have the MC now but was just approved for the visa. Thanks.

Silly question, but – if we already have an Ink Plus, could we possibly get accepted for a second one? thanks

These tickets are non-refundable and are subject to a $200 change fee and can’t be re-deposited back into your ff account, correct?

Since I am retired and never owned a business, is it worth to sign up for this card?
