You can also use your cash back bonus here at this secluded treehouse in Costa Rica for 4 nights if you and your partner both unlock the bonus!
It was our first trip for just the 2 of us since having our baby, and we were excited (though a bit nervous!) for our vacation. We rented a car and drove to Sarapiqui for epic white water rafting, then continued our drive to Monteverde. Stay tuned for our Ultimate Guide to Renting a Car in Costa Rica!
How to Earn Points With the Capital One Savor Card
In addition to the generous welcome bonus, you’ll earn bonus points in certain categories:
- 4% cash back on dining
- 4% cash back on entertainment
- 2% cash back at grocery stores
You’ll earn 1% cash back on all other purchases.
In Costa Rica, there are plenty of opportunities to pay for dining and entertainment with your credit card. Getting 4% cash back is for me, one of the strengths of the Capital One Savor card. There are several high-quality restaurants in Monteverde, as well as a lot of fun activities like hanging bridge tours, ziplining, and wildlife night walks. We went on a few different tours, and our favorite tours were white water rafting and the hanging bridge canopy tours. Plus, there are NO foreign transaction fees with this credit card.
How to Book Your Stay at Hidden Canopy Treehouses Boutique Hotel
Since I have never been to Costa Rica, I wanted to stay in a hotel. My guidebook recommended Hidden Canopy Treehouses Boutique Hotel, and I can see why! It’s a beautiful hotel with a collection of private treehouses. We stayed in the low season, and the cheapest rooms cost ~$239.
The rates include a full Costa Rican breakfast with various food of your choice, and evening Afternoon Tea, which is really complimentary Happy Hour. You can order wine, beer, sangria, or non-alcoholic drinks if you prefer. You also receive amazing hors d’oeuvres. They also have a philosophy that dessert should come before the main course while you’re on vacation, and you had the option of ordering (free!) dessert each evening. Needless to say, we couldn’t ever resist the desserts. The chefs know how to cook at this hotel!
We stayed at the magical Hidden Canopy Treehouses in Costa Rica for 4 nights for FREE because my partner and I each earned the $500 intro bonus with the Capital One® Savor® Cash Rewards Credit Card.
