Update: One or more card offers in this post are no longer available. Check our Hot Deals for the latest offers.

For a limited time, the Citi AAdvantage Platinum Select World Elite Mastercard now comes with 60,000 bonus American Airlines miles after you spend $3,000 on purchases in the first 3 months of account opening.  And the CitiBusiness AAdvantage Platinum Select World Mastercard comes with 70,000 bonus American Airlines miles after you spend $4,000 on purchases in the first 4 months of account opening.

American Airlines is currently showing near wide open availability for coach saver award flights to and from the East and West Coast.  One-way coach saver award seats are only 12,500 American Airlines miles.  This means with the limited-time offers on these Citi American Airlines cards, you’ll have enough miles to fly from coast to coast at least 4 times!

The ability to earn 60,000+ American Airlines miles with a single credit card is pretty amazing.  So if you’ve been thinking about opening either of these cards, this is the time.

Both the personal and small business versions of the card come with:

  • 2 American Airlines miles per $1 spent with American Airlines
  • Free first checked bag for you and up to 4 travel companions on the same reservation (domestic flights only)
  • Priority boarding for you and up to 4 travel companions on the same reservation
  • 25% off eligible in-flight purchases
  • Receive 10% of your redeemed miles back, up to 10,000 miles per calendar year (personal card only)
  • Reduced Mileage Awards – get discounts up to 7,500 miles round-trip on award flights to certain airports
  • NO foreign transaction fees

The business version of the card also earns 2 American Airlines miles per $1 spent on select business categories (like car rental merchants and certain telecommunication merchants) including gas stations.

And the personal version of the card earns 2 American Airlines miles per $1 spent at gas stations and restaurants!  Plus a $100 American Airlines flight discount after you spend $20,000 or more in purchases during your card year and renew your card.

The annual fee for the personal version is $99, and the annual fee for the small business version is $95.  But both cards’ annual fee is waived for the first 12 months.

I did a quick search for flights from the New York area (JFK, LaGuardia, and Newark) to Los Angeles in September 2018.  Here’s what I found:

Green Means Go! Get These Seats (and the Limited-Time Card Offers) While You Still Can!

I also found lots of open seats for flights between San Francisco and Charlotte!

Flights like these can easily cost ~$200+.  That means the sign-up bonus from the personal or business version of the Citi American Airlines Platinum card could be worth ~$800 or more!

American Airlines has had a reputation for poor award availability in recent years, but right now it looks like this could be a good time to book.  And I’m hoping this is an indication of more availability in the future.

Whether you regularly fly American Airlines or just want to finally take that trip you’ve been thinking about, but haven’t wanted to spend the money on, this is the time to pick up one (or both!) of these cards.  The increased sign-up bonuses are only available for a limited time.  So make sure you don’t miss them while they’re around!
