The increased sign-up bonuses are the highest I’ve ever seen!

I’ve shared how you can use Delta miles from the sign-up bonus to travel to Hawaii.  Here are some options for redeeming miles for travel within the continental US!  Keep in mind, you can use these sample booking methods to book flights to any city Delta flies to in the US!

1.   Fly a Family of 4 to New York for ZERO Dollars Out-of-Pocket!

As an AMEX Delta cardholder, you can easily redeem miles to save money on flights by using Pay With Miles.  When you book this way:

For example, a roundtripnonstop coach flight from Chicago to New York (JFK) in April 2018 costs ~$137 if you pay cash.  So 4 tickets would cost ~$548.  Or you could redeem 55,000 Delta miles using Pay With Miles to completely offset the flight costs.

This means earning 60,000 Delta miles with the AMEX Delta Gold (personal or small business) card is enough to cover the cost of 4 tickets!

Earn Any of the Limited-Time Sign-Up Bonuses on the AMEX Delta Cards and Use Pay With Miles to Erase the Flight Costs for a Family Trip to New York City!

Using Pay With Miles, you can also choose to partially pay for a ticket.  So depending on your travel situation, you can potentially use Pay With Miles to cover the cost of 3 flights and pay cash for a 4th flight.

2.   Save $1,100+ on Holiday Travel to Orlando

Using miles for award flights during peak travel times can be an excellent way to save money.  Because airlines usually increase the cash cost of a flight when they know lots of folks are traveling.

Although Delta doesn’t publish an award chart, it’s easy to use the flexible calendar tool on Delta.com to search for award flights.

For example, I found round-trip, non-stop coach award flights from Seattle to Orlando around Christmas for 66,000 Delta miles plus $~11 in taxes & fees.  Remember, you’ll earn 70,000 Delta miles with the sign-up bonuses on the AMEX Delta Platinum (personal or small business) cards after meeting minimum spending requirements.

Paying cash for this same flight would cost ~$1,108!  So using 66,000 Delta miles instead means you’re getting more than ~1.6 cents per mile in value (~$1,108 cash cost of flight / 66,000 miles)

This is a great example of redeeming miles to get Big Travel with Small Money!

You Won’t Have to Pay More Than $1,100 for Your Holiday Flight to Orlando If You Use Delta Miles to Book an Award Flight!

3.   Weekend Trip to Las Vegas in Business Class

If you’re flying to Las Vegas, you could redeem Delta miles for a Business Class award flight!

For example, I found lots of award seats available on round-trip, non-stop flights from Minneapolis to Las Vegas in April 2018.  It depends on your travel dates, but I found award seats available for 53,000 Delta miles.

So earning a sign-up bonus on any of the increased AMEX Delta card offers would get you enough miles to book this flight!

Paying cash for a similar ticket would cost ~$800+.  So redeeming miles will save you money and give you an opportunity to travel in a comfortable Business Class seat!

Need More Delta Miles?

Earning a valuable AMEX Delta card sign-up bonus is a quick and easy way to boost your frequent flyer account balance.  But extra miles might help if you’re looking to book multiple award flights or just want a few extra to top-off your account.

In Addition to Earning a Sign-Up Bonus With an AMEX Delta Card, There Are Other Ways You Can Boost Your Frequent Flyer Mileage Balance!

Remember, the personal and small business versions of each card, and the Gold and Platinum versions, are each considered different products.  So if you’ve had the personal version, you’re still eligible for the business version.  Or if you’ve had the Gold, you can still earn the bonus on the Platinum (or vice versa!).

For extra Delta miles, you can also transfer AMEX Membership Rewards points to Delta at a 1:1 ratio.  Keep in mind, you’ll pay a small excise fee of 0.06 cents per point (up to a maximum of $99).

Or transfer Starwood points to Delta at a ratio of 1:1.  Plus, when you transfer in increments of 20,000 Starwood points, you’ll get a bonus 5,000 Delta miles!

Bottom Line

You only have until November 8, 2017 to sign-up for an increased bonus offer on the AMEX Delta Gold (personal or small business) and AMEX Delta Platinum (personal or small business) cards.

Earning the sign-up bonuses is an easy way to save money on flights to popular US cities, like New York, Orlando, and Las Vegas, and any other cities Delta flies to.

For example, redeeming any of the best-ever sign-up bonuses through Pay With Miles could get you 4 completely free round-trip flights from Chicago to New York.  And booking this way means you can avoid blackout dates.

Or you can book award flights to save lots of money on flights during peak travel times.  For example, I found a flight to Orlando during the holiday season which costs $1,100+ if you pay cash.  But by booking as an award flight, your only out-of-pocket expense will be ~$11 for taxes & fees!

Don’t forget, Delta miles never expire!  So you can earn them now to boost your frequent flyer account balance.  Then, redeem them when you have travel plans in mind!
