Last week, I wrote how Million Mile Secrets team member Keith was approved for the Chase Sapphire Reserve because of his Chase Private Client status. He anxiously awaited the delivery so he could start taking advantage of all the Chase Sapphire Reserve rewards!
One week later, the card was delivered via UPS. The Sapphire Reserve was in a regular envelope, as it seems Chase ran out of the special boxes they used to deliver the new cards.
I’ll share more news about the Sapphire Reserve!
Opening the Chase Sapphire Reserve Card to Unlock Its Rewards
It’s always exciting to receive a new card with amazing perks like the Chase Sapphire Reserve!
Besides the card, Chase also sends other information in the package.
You’ll get a welcome letter with details on how to activate benefits of the card.
You’ll also receive a paper copy of the card’s Guide to Benefits, which includes important information about rental car insurance, trip cancellation and interruption insurance, and purchase protection.
Activate Sapphire Reserve Benefits
You’ll have to manually activate some perks of the Sapphire Reserve card. For example, the Priority Pass Select airport lounge membership.
To activate, you can log-in to the Chase travel portal.
Then, click on “Card Benefits.”
You’ll see a summary of the travel benefits, including the option to activate your Priority Pass Select membership. Or links to National Car Rental, Avis, and Silvercar, to book discounted car rentals.
After you activate your Priority Pass Select membership, it will take 1 or 2 weeks for you to receive a special Priority Pass card. In the meantime, you might be able to access the Priority Pass lounges by calling them to get your membership number.
Automatic Rewards With Chase Sapphire Reserve
With the Chase Sapphire Reserve card, you’ll also get these perks automatically:
- 3X Chase Ultimate Rewards points on travel & dining
- $300 annual credit for travel purchases such as airfare and hotels
- $100 statement credit applied after Global Entry payment
- No foreign transaction fees
More Info on Sapphire Reserve Delays
I wrote about Emily’s Chase banker mentioning 3 week delays receiving the Sapphire Reserve card because of the unexpected demand.
Million Mile Secrets team member Keith spoke with his banker who said Chase ran out of the metal cards and will be shipping plastic cards temporarily until they restock. And Million Mile Secrets reader Sean wrote something similar.
Hopefully this helps folks get the card sooner so they can begin using the terrific benefits!
Folks are receiving their Sapphire Reserve cards and are eager to meet the minimum spending to earn the 100,000 point sign-up bonus!
Chase has run out of metal cards to send folks approved for the Sapphire Reserve. So some folks might temporarily be receiving plastic cards until Chase restocks.
Have you received your Sapphire Reserve card yet?
