Do you know how to find out how much you’ve spent on the bonus categories on your Chase Ink cards?
You know how to track your spending in the 5X bonus categories on your Chase Freedom card, right? Just check your credit card statements or log into your Chase account and use Blueprint.
But Blueprint doesn’t work for Chase Ink cards which also have 5X bonus categories. The Chase Ink cards have a very lucrative category bonus of 5X Ultimate Rewards points for Office Supply stores and for telecom, internet, cable and wireless..

For a limited time, you can get 60,000 Ultimate Rewards points (a 10,000 point increase over the standard 50,000 Ultimate Rewards points offer) on the Chase Ink Plus and Chase Ink Bold cards.
You can earn 5X the number of Chase Ultimate Rewards points for every $1 spent on:
- Office supply stores
- Cellular phone
- Landline
- Internet
- Cable Services
The Chase Ink Bold & Ink Plus also gets you 2X Ultimate Rewards points on:
- Gas
- Hotels (purchased directly from the hotel)
And the Chase Ink Cash gets you 2X Ultimate Rewards points on:
- Gas
- Restaurants
You can usually buy many different gift cards such as Amazon.com or Southwest gift cards at office supply stores and earn 5X points for those purchases!
Chase Ultimate Rewards points can be redeemed for cash, used for travel, and transferred to airline and hotel partners. And you can transfer Chase Ultimate Reward points to your partner’s Ultimate Rewards account or to your partner’s airline and hotel accounts for free.
However, you’re limited to $50,000 per card year with your Chase Ink Plus or Chase Ink Bold cards, and $25,000 per card year on your Ink Cash card.
You can’t transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards points from the Chase Ink Cash directly to airlines or hotels – just like you can’t with the Chase Freedom, but you can transfer them to the Chase Sapphire Preferred, Chase Ink Bold or Chase Ink Plus and from there to airlines or hotels.
How to Use Jot to See How Much You’ve Spent on Chase Ink CardsLink: Jot
Because your 5X earning is limited, you should keep track of how much you’ve spent in the 5X bonus categories. You can track your Chase Ink Plus, Chase Ink Bold, or Chase Ink Cash card spending using Jot.
However, you can NOT easily see bonus category spending as you can with your Chase Sapphire Preferred card. With your Chase Ink card spending, you have to assign categories and track spending yourself. But Jot can make it easier.
You can use Jot on your desktop or via app on your smartphone or tablet.
Step 1 – Log on to Your Chase Ink Account
Log into your Chase Ink Account.
Step 2 – Click on “Jot” Icon
Click on the “jot” icon for your Chase Ink card.
Step 3 – Click on “Manage Tags”
Click on the “Manage Tags” link.
Step 4 – Add New Tag
In the “Manage Tags” box, type in the name of your tag and click the “Add” button.
I used “Office Supply Spending” but you can use something that works best for you.
Your tag will appear under “APPROVED/ACTIVE.”
Step 5 – Click “Tag and Download Purchases”
Click on the “Tag and Download Purchases” link to return to your list of purchases.
Step 6 – Check the Boxes
Check the boxes next to your purchases that you want to tag as “Office Supply Spending” If you created multiple tags, you can select a tag from the “Assign tag” drop down box.
Your purchases will be assigned to your tag.
Here’s what a list of your “Office Supply Spending” tag purchases will look.
You can multiply the total you’ve spent on “Office Supply Spending” by 4 to see the bonus points for the office supply category. So for office supply spending, I’ve earned 212 bonus Ultimate Rewards points (~$53 x 4).
Bottom Line
You can track your spending, including 5X bonus category spending on your Chase Ink cards with Jot. But you still have to manually categorize your spending and perform some math to find out how many bonus points you should have earned!
