Hi Daraius,Robbie wants to know if he can use his 2 free nights from the Hyatt card to book a room in someone else’s name. Can I make a reservation for someone else using my free nights from the Chase Hyatt credit card? I read that the free night award is not transferable but does that mean that I can’t even reserve it in someone else name?
Robbie can NOT directly book the room in someone else’s name (when he uses his free nights from the card), but he CAN add someone as the additional guest on the reservation and have them check-in.
This is different from booking a hotel using Hyatt points, where you CAN book the room directly in someone else’s name.2 Free Nights From Hyatt Card
Link: Hyatt card
Robbie gets 2 free nights after spending $1,000 on the Hyatt card within the 3 months.
The Hyatt card gets Robbie:
- 3 Hyatt points per $1 he spends at Hyatt hotels
- 1 free night in a Category 1 to 4 hotel each card anniversary
- Hyatt Platinum elite status (free internet, upgrades, late check-out)
- Access to “My Elite Rates“ (20% discount on standard rooms)
- NO foreign transaction fee
However, per the terms of the Hyatt card, Robbie can NOT transfer his 2 free nights from his Hyatt card to someone else.
But Robbie can call Hyatt at 888-591-1234 and add his friend’s name to the reservation so his friend could use the 2 free nights. But he should only do this for reservations in the US and NOT for international reservations because the hotel might expect Robbie to show up.
While the terms say Robbie can’t use his 2 free nights for someone else, some folks on this FlyerTalk thread report being able to use their 2 free nights for someone else. Although Robbie may not have the same experience.Transferring Chase Ultimate Rewards Points to Hyatt
However, Robbie can use his Hyatt points (as opposed to the free nights from the card) to book a room for someone else.
Robbie can also use his Chase Ultimate Rewards points transferred to his Hyatt account from his Chase Sapphire Preferred, (no longer offered) Chase Ink Bold, or Chase Ink Plus card to book a room for his friend.
And Robbie can also transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards points from his Chase Freedom to his Chase Sapphire Preferred, Chase Ink Bold, or Chase Ink Plus card. And then transfer them to his Hyatt account to book a room for his friend.
Bottom Line
Robbie can NOT use his 2 free nights from the Hyatt card to book a room in someone else’s name. But he can add his friend’s name to his reservation.
