Can I book for someone else using my Citi Prestige and get the 4th night free perk?
The Citi Prestige card is packed with benefits including the 4th night free perk.
The 4th night free perk is only for primary cardholder. There may be a way around this, but I don’t recommend it!

You’ll earn 50,000 Citi ThankYou points when you spend $3,000 on purchases within the 1st 3 months of opening your Citi Prestige account. (EXPIRED.) That’s worth $800 in flights on American Airlines or 1 of its codeshare partners with no blackout dates through July 23, 2017.
This isn’t 1 of those cards you stuff in your sock drawer after you earn the sign-up bonus. That’s because there are lots of incentives for you to keep this card handy, including earning the 4th night free on paid hotel stays of 4+ consecutive nights booked through the Citi Travel concierge.
Whether you’re planning a trip a national park or looking for a relaxing getaway at an all-inclusive, as long as it’s a hotel that can be booked by the Citi concierge, you’ll get the 4th night free when you book 4+ consecutive nights!
Plus, you can combine this deal with other hotel promotions and discounts like AAA rates and 5th night free sales offered by the hotel!
There used to be a bit of back and forth involved with making your reservation. But Citi has made it easier, because the Citi Travel concierge can now book your stay directly!
Can You Book a Room for a Friend or Family Member and Still Get the 4th Night Free?
If you book a stay for someone else, can you still get the 4th night free?
According to the Citi Prestige terms, this benefit can only be used by the primary cardholder. But in theory, it may be possible to book for someone else.
Many hotels will let you add an additional guest to your reservation.
So it’s possible to make the reservation in your name through the Citi Travel concierge, then call the hotel to add your friend or family member as an additional guest. This often gives them the ability to check-in without you there.
But this is risky and I do NOT recommend it.
While most chain hotels are known for allowing a 2nd person to check-in without the primary guest, at boutique and independent hotels, this isn’t guaranteed.
Imagine if you booked your Aunt Ida for a 4-night stay somewhere overseas. And when she arrived, the hotel wouldn’t let her check-in without you.
This could be a very messy situation! And Citi may not look kindly on folks who try to bend the rules like this.Bottom Line
With the Citi Prestige you can get the 4th night free on paid hotel stays of 4 consecutive nights or more when you book through the Citi Travel Concierge.
Folks are saving big money with this perk! And you can make it even more valuable by combining it with hotel sales and discounts.
This benefit can only be used by the primary cardholder. And while you may be able to get around this by booking the hotel in your name, then adding an additional guest to the reservation, it’s NOT a good idea.
