Via View From the Wing, you can save up to 50% off Starwood points purchases through December 31, 2016. This is the highest discount I’ve seen!
The savings amount is targeted and ranges from 25% to 50%. If you’re targeted for the 50% savings, this can be a great deal.
That’s because Starwood points are hard to earn. And they’re extremely valuable with flexible redemption options like free hotel stays at Starwood, Marriott, and Ritz-Carlton hotels. Or transfer Starwood points to airlines!
I’ll explain more about the deal!

Through December 31, 2016, folks can save up to 50% off Starwood points purchases.
The savings percentage is targeted. To check your potential savings, log-in to the Starwood buy points promotion page.
For example, Million Mile Secrets team member Keith has Starwood Platinum status and is targeted for a 30% savings.
You can usually buy Starwood points for 3.5 cents each. If you’re targeted for the 50% savings, you’ll buy Starwood points for 1.75 cents each.
You can buy Starwood points in increments of 500 points. And purchase up to 30,000 Starwood points per account, per calendar year.
Purchased points do NOT count towards elite status. And earlier this year Starwood changed their rules for transferring points between accounts.
Is This a Good Deal?
If you’re targeted for the 50% savings, this is a terrific deal!
The maximum points purchase with this promotion is 29,500 Starwood points. With the 50% savings, you’d pay ~$516.
1. Aim for a High-End Marriott or Ritz-Carlton
Then, you can convert the Starwood points to Marriott or Ritz-Carlton points at a 1:3 ratio. You’ll have ~87,000 Marriott or Ritz-Carlton points. (Because you can only convert in increments of 1,000. And 29,000 Starwood points X 3 = 87,000.)
That’s more than enough Marriott points for a stay at a Tier 5 Ritz-Carlton hotel like The Ritz-Carlton New York, Central Park (70,000 Ritz-Carlton points per night). This hotel can regularly cost $1,000+ per night!
2. Get Closer to the Best Deal in Travel, the Companion Pass
You can even combine the purchased points with your existing Starwood or Marriott points and book a Marriott’s Hotel + Air Package. With enough points, you can earn the Southwest Companion Pass this way!
3. Transfer to Airlines Like American Airlines
Or purchase Starwood points to transfer to your frequent flyer account.
For example, with the 50% savings, you’ll pay $350 for 20,000 Starwood points. Plus, you can get a 5,000 mile bonus when transferring all the points to a Starwood airline partner.
That’d be enough for a round-trip flight from the West Coast to Hawaii using British Airways Avios points.
4. Save on Your Next Stay at Westin or W Hotels
Of course, you can also redeem points for a fantastic stay at Starwood hotels.
Starwood hotels include Aloft, Design Hotels, Element, Four Points, Le Meridien, Sheraton, St Regis, The Luxury Collection, Tribute Portfolio, Westin and W brand hotels.Bottom Line
Through December 31, 2016, you can save 25% to 50% off Starwood points purchases.
The 50% off savings can be a great deal for folks wanting more miles with one of Starwood’s many airline transfer partners, like British Airways, Delta, or American Airlines. Or if you have a specific Starwood, Marriott, or Ritz-Carlton hotel stay in mind.
