Via One Mile at a Time, Club Carlson is offering a 75% bonus on purchased miles through October 30, 2016.

This could be a good deal, especially if you have a particular Club Carlson stay planned.  But is it worth it otherwise?  I’ll help you decide.

Here are the details of the promotion.  And how to figure out whether it’s a good deal for you.

Through October 30, 2016, you’ll get a 75% bonus when you buy Club Carlson points.

You can buy up to 40,000 Club Carlson points per calendar year in increments of 1,000 points.  And you’ll get the 75% bonus no matter how many (or few!) points you buy.  If you buy the maximum number of points allowed per year (40,000 Club Carlson points), you’ll pay $280 and get 70,000 Club Carlson points.

Club Carlson normally sells points for 0.7 cents each, but with this deal, you’re only paying 0.4 cents each ($280 / 70,000 points).

So if you need to top off your Club Carlson account for an upcoming stay, this is certainly a good deal.  But I wouldn’t recommend buying points just to take advantage of the promotion.  Because it might not always be worth it.

For example, I found rooms at the Radisson Blu Hotel Milan in May 2017, for ~$105 or 44,000 Club Carlson points per night.

It’s a Better Deal to Pay the Cash Price Than to Buy Enough Points for an Award Night at the Modern Radisson Blu Hotel Milan!

If you bought 26,000 Club Carlson points and get the 19,500 point bonus (75% X 26,000) with this promotion, you’d have enough points for your stay.  But you’d pay $182 for the points, which is much more than the ~$105 cash price of the room!

So as always, I recommend doing the math to make sure you’re getting the best deal.

Bottom Line

You’ll get a 75% bonus when you buy Club Carlson points through October 30, 2016.

Normally, Club Carlson sells points for 0.7 cents each, but with this deal you’ll pay just 0.4 cents per point.

So if you have a particular Club Carlson stay in mind, it could be worth taking advantage of this promotion to top-off your Club Carlson account.

But I always suggest doing the math first to see what makes sense for you.  Because in some cases, the cash price of a room might be less than what it would cost to buy enough points for an award stay.  Even with a 75% bonus!
