Guide to Bank of America BankAmeriDeals

Signing up for credit cards through partner links earns us a commission. Terms apply to the offers listed on this page. Here’s our full advertising policy: How we make money.

If you’re a Bank of America credit or debit cardholder, there’s a savings program you may not be aware of. Much like Chase Offers and Amex Offers, Bank of America offers BankAmeriDeals — targeted offers that you can activate on your card. These deals provide the chance to easily save on purchases you’re probably making anyway.

We’ve put together a guide to BankAmeriDeals so you’ll know how to take advantage of these offers.

What is BankAmeriDeals?

BankAmeriDeals are offers for cash back on eligible Bank of America debit and credit cards. You select the offers online or through the bank’s app, use your card at the merchant and earn rewards. The rewards you earn are on top of the rewards you’d normally receive based on the card’s standard bonus categories.

Which cards offer BankAmeriDeals?

Most Bank of America credit and debit carters are eligible for BankAmeriDeals – this even includes Merril Lynch cards. But there are certain exceptions to this rule, including cards like ATM-only cards, AAA credit cards, Credit Purchasing Cards and more. You can check online or in the mobile app to see if your card qualifies for any deals.

It’s also worth noting that while you will see BankAmeriDeals for jointly owned accounts, you won’t see deals on accounts for which you are an authorized user. And it can take up to 30 days for BankAmeriDeals to show up on new accounts and on accounts for which a replacement card has been issued.

How to find and use BankAmeriDeals

BankAmeriDeals are offers for cash back on eligible Bank of America debit and credit cards. You select the offers online or through the bank’s app, use your card at the merchant and earn rewards. The rewards you earn are on top of the rewards you’d normally receive based on the card’s standard bonus categories.

When you log on to your Bank of America account, you’ll find BankAmeriDeals under the “Special Offers & Deals” tab by clicking on “Cash back deals,” under the Activity Center, or by going to the BankAmerDeals tab on the Bank of America mobile banking app.

Once you’ve navigated to the deals page, you’ll see the offers available on your card.

For example, with my Alaska Airlines Visa® Business credit card, I have the opportunity to earn 10% cash back on Starbucks purchases up to a $3 maximum. You can click on the offer to see the terms and conditions.

What are BankAmeriDeal coins?

In addition to the cash back you earn with BankAmeriDeals, you’ll also earn one “coin” per deal on transactions of $3 or more. And you’ll have the opportunity to collect bonus coins by completing limited-time tasks under the “Available” tab.

The coin system is gamified — once you collect a total of four coins, you’ll earn extra cash back and move to the next level. As you earn more coins and advance levels, the additional cash back you’ll receive is increased. The coins do expire and your level resets every couple of months. But Bank of America announces these expiration dates in advance so you can plan your earnings accordingly.

How to maximize BankAmeriDeals

Be sure to check the deals available to you with some frequency to make sure you don’t miss out on an opportunity to earn bonus cash back. Bank of American makes it easier to do so by giving you the option to receive a text message, email alert or alert through the mobile app when new deals are available. You can opt into alerts through the Preferences tab online or to Alert Settings on the mobile app.  Just remember, you’ll still need to add deals to your account before you can use them.

With the Mobile Banking app you can take advantage of the Near Me feature that allows you to view nearby deals on a map. You can also change your preferred zip code under the “Preferences” tap so that deals in your new location will be made available.

Another way to maximize BankAmeriDeals is to stack them with earnings from online shopping portals — in addition to any rewards you’re already earning with your card. Once you choose which portal to use, click through the portal and make the purchase with your eligible Bank of America card to double or triple dip your rewards.
