I’ve written about how to get Big Travel with the Chase IHG Rewards Club Select card.You can use the free night certificate from the Chase IHG Rewards Club Select card at any IHG hotel, including their top category hotels and resorts!
So it’s worth paying the $49 annual fee to enjoy a free night at a top-tier hotel that normally costs hundreds of dollars each night.If award nights are available, you can use your IHG free night certificate to book it. Log into your account and click the link for “Free Night Status.” This link will appear on your after you’ve had the card for 1 year. Simply click through and book your hotel as usual – for free!
Here are my picks for where to use your free night certificate in Asia and Australia. I haven’t stayed at all of these hotels, but they look like fantastic deals! If you have one to add to the list, let me know!

1. InterContinental Singapore
Located just east of the city center, the InterContinental Singapore is walking distance to lots of interesting sites, like the largest fountain in the world, Singapore Arts Museum, and art galleries, shops, and restaurants.And Singapore is a terrific spot for foodies! Visit the many hawker centers (food stalls) to sample Chinese, Indian, Malaysian, and other cuisines.
Nights here cost ~$307 or 50,000 IHG points per night, so the free night certificate is a great way to save money OR points. And get Big Travel!Folks on TripAdvisor rave about the location, service, and staff!
2. InterContinental The Strings Tokyo
Japan is an amazing country, and there is no city in the world quite like Tokyo. Consider InterContinental The Strings Tokyo if you decide to visit.
You’ll be near Shinagawa Station, with several bullet trains that will take you to Kyoto, Osaka, or Yokohama, or nearly anywhere within the city of Tokyo.
The famous Tsukiji Fish Market and Ginza district are nearby, as well as tons of shopping and restaurants.
Nights here cost ~$236, or 50,000 IHG points. Get a longer stay in Toyko when you mix-and-match your award night with paid nights at an Airbnb.
3. InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort
You could use your IHG free night certificate for an ocean-view room at the gorgeous InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort.
The resort has its own pool and strip of beach on the Pacific Ocean. It’s also a short drive to three UNSECO World Heritage sites: an ancient city, a complex of monuments, and a historic sanctuary.
I’d be willing to bet the food is delicious there too. The spicier the better for me, please! 🙂
Rooms here are usually 50,000 IHG points or ~$499 a night. Keep in mind there’s a wet and dry season in Vietnam. The dry season is roughly from October to April, which is perfect for a mid-winter vacation!Folks on TripAdvisor describe the hotel as “peaceful” and “outstandingly beautiful.” And nearly all of the reviews are 5 stars. That sounds like a perfect place to unwind (and save a lot of money)!
4. InterContinental Hong Kong
The InterContinental Hong Kong is recognized for being not only one of the best hotels in Asia, but also in the world.
The huge hotel has over 500 rooms and is located near the business, entertainment, and shopping districts in Hong Kong. So there is plenty to see, do, and eat!
Rooms here are ~$355 a night, or 60,000 IHG points. So you can save a lot if you decide to plan a stopover of your own!
5. InterContinental Sydney

If you’re heading to Australia, consider a stay at the InterContinental Sydney. It’s located in the Central Business District near Circular Quay.I had an excellent time visiting Sydney last year. While I stayed at the Park Hyatt Sydney, this hotel looks outstanding, too!
You can take ferries across Sydney Cove to Bondi Beach or Taronga Zoo, one of the best zoos in the world!
Rooms here are usually ~$248 a night, or 55,000 IHG points.
Be sure to head to the pool on the 31st floor for some of the best views of Sydney, including the world-famous Sydney Opera House.
$49 for Any IHG Hotel
