1. Hilton Los Cabos Beach & Golf Resort
Fill your day with golfing, fishing, or relaxing at the upscale Hilton Los Cabos Beach & Golf Resort. Every hotel room has its own private balcony, perfect for taking in amazing views of the Sea of Cortez.
TripAdvisor ranks this hotel in the top 5 in Los Cabos because of the spectacular views and amazing staff. The Hilton Los Cabos Beach & Golf Resort is a category 8 hotel. So you’ll need 40,000 to 70,000 Hilton points per night for a free stay.
Two-night stays in June are available for 40,000 Hilton points per night. Cash rates vary depending on the dates but range from ~$200 to ~$400 per night.
After meeting the minimum spending requirements, the American Express Hilton Honors Surpass card sign-up bonus will give you more than enough points for 2 free nights in Los Cabos.
2. Embassy Suites Santo Domingo
Santo Domingo is the largest populated city in the Caribbean and an interesting and historical place to visit in the Dominican Republic. Emily and her friend had a terrific time here on her 30th birthday trip!
While the Embassy Suites Santo Domingo is NOT within waking distance of the Colonial Zone, it’s still close to nightclubs and local restaurants.
And you can walk to Estadio Quisqueya Juan Marichal, home to 2 of the nation’s professional baseball teams. The country is known for its love of the sport! My friend recommends seeing a game there because it’s a lively experience.
The hotel includes free cooked-to-order breakfast (no elite status needed!) and a nightly reception with complimentary food and beverages.
Room in June cost ~$240 per night. But you can redeem 30,000 Hilton points per night to stay 3 nights at this hotel with the sign-up bonus from the American Express Hilton Honors Surpass (with points left over!).
In this case, the sign-up bonus from the American Express Hilton Honors Surpass is worth more than ~$700! Use this savings for a tour of Los Tres Ojos Park (the Park of the Three Eyes) which receives rave reviews on TripAdvisor.
3. Hilton Puerto Vallarta Resort
Enjoy free meals, snacks, drinks, and activities at the all-inclusive Hilton Puerto Vallarta Resort. One of my favorite things about Puerto Vallarta is the hotels are located less than 10 minutes from the airport.
Friends who’ve stayed nearby say airplane noise is not an issue. Instead you will not waste time in a taxi instead of sitting on the beach!
Folks on TripAdvisor write that one night at this hotel is not enough.
Award nights cost 50,000 to 70,000 Hilton points per night depending on the season.
So consider using 100,000 Hilton points (50,000 points per night) earned from the American Express Hilton Honors Surpass for 2 nights! That’s a ~$540 savings if you had to pay for the hotel with cash. You can save even more depending on the time of year.
Rooms can fit 4 guests.
Note: While the hotel advertises charges for children, I called the hotel manager to clarify. He said if you book a room for 4 adults using Hilton points, there will be no extra charges (even if some of the “adults” are children). I recommend calling to verify when you’re making a reservation.4. Hilton Rose Hall Resort & Spa
Enjoy an all-inclusive beachfront experience at the Hilton Rose Hall Resort & Spa. The hotel has 7 restaurants, bars, and grills and has a private beach.
The cash cost of a room in June is ~$380 plus charges for children. Rates can be $600+ during peak season in September. Instead use 70,000 Hilton points for a night stay. Rooms can fit 4 people. Similar to Hilton Puerto Vallarta Resort, charges for children are waived if you book for 4 adults.
Reviews for this hotel on TripAdvisor are positive. Guests enjoy the food and family atmosphere of the resort. Also, the famous Dunn’s River Falls are located within an hour and 15 minute drive of the hotel.
5. Hilton Aruba Caribbean Resort & Casino
White sand beaches and scuba diving sound nice? Consider staying at the Hilton Aruba Caribbean Resort & Casino. This hotel was converted from the Radisson Aruba Resort, Casino & Spa in 2015.
Rooms here in June cost ~$200 a night and increase to ~$700 during peak season. Or you can use 60,000 Hilton points for a free night. Rooms can fit 4 people. So you can bring 4 adults or 2 adults and 2 children.
TripAdvisor reviews note the hotel’s beautiful beachfront, proactive staff, and great entertainment. The Aruba WaterSports Center is located right next to the hotel where you can arrange scuba diving, paddle boarding, and rent waverunners.
Bottom Line

Hilton points are great for Big Travel with Small Money because they can be worth hundreds of dollars in hotel stays in the Caribbean & Mexico.
