Earlier this week, I wrote about a better sign-up bonus for the Chase Ritz-Carlton card.  You can earn 3 complimentary nights at participating Ritz-Carlton tier 1 through 4 hotels, after meeting minimum spending requirements!

The card has a $450 annual fee that’s NOT waived the first year, but there are ways to offset the annual fee and get Big Travel with Small Money!

You can save thousands of dollars using your complimentary nights at luxurious hotels around the world, like The Ritz-Carlton, Aruba!

Here are 4 top hotels in Mexico, the Caribbean, and South America, where you can use your complimentary nights.

I haven’t personally stayed at all of these hotels, but they have excellent reviews!  And hopefully this list will inspire you to plan a trip!

Note:   Some Ritz-Carlton hotels add pricey resort fees, so you’ll need to check with the individual hotel to see what’s covered with your complimentary nights.  And as always, do the math to see what makes sense for you!

1.   The Ritz-Carlton, Cancun

The Ritz-Carlton, Cancun gets outstanding reviews on TripAdvisor for its friendly staff, heated pools, and excellent service.  Plus, foodies like me will appreciate the hotel’s 9 on-site restaurants!

Enjoy Endless Views of Mexico’s Crystal Blue Waters From the Beach at The Ritz-Carlton, Cancun

Rooms here start at ~$350 per night, so you’ll easily save over $1,000 using your 3 complimentary nights from the Chase Ritz-Carlton card here.

Also, it’s a ~10 minute ride to the main nightlife area in the hotel zone, so this hotel is in a great spot if you want to be in the quieter area of town.

Taxis are relatively cheap when paying in Mexican pesos.  And the bus costs less than $1 when paying with pesos.

While you’re in the area, you could check out the ancient Mayan ruins of Tulum, or go scuba diving at nearby Isla Mujeres and visit MUSA, the largest underwater museum in the world!

A friend has been snorkeling and diving in the Yucatan Peninsula, and says it has some of the most vibrant underwater life she has ever seen!

2.   The Ritz-Carlton, Aruba

Folks on TripAdvisor give The Ritz-Carlton, Aruba, nearly all 5 stars, and love that the hotel is located away from the busier (and noisier!) part of town.

It also has 2 pools, 4 on-site restaurants, and a casino!

There’s a 15% mandatory resort fee for things like snorkeling gear and kayaks.  And that’s 15% on the paid rate, so for longer stays, this fee could really add up!

Again, it’s always important to do the math to see what makes sense for you.

Pull up a Chair and Enjoy Year-Round Sun in Aruba!

A night here normally costs ~$409+, meaning you would save ~$1,200 if you used your complimentary nights from the Chase Ritz-Carlton card here.  Just remember, you’ll spend ~$180 (~$1,200 X 15%) in resort fees for a 3-night stay.

Another perk of the hotel is that it’s only ~10 minutes from Aruba’s capital, Oranjestad, where you can shop, dine, and explore the city’s Dutch colonial architecture.

3.   The Ritz-Carlton, San Juan

At The Ritz-Carlton, San Juan, there’s a beautiful pool overlooking the beach, 5 restaurants, a bar, and an on-site casino.  And it’s only ~15 minutes from historic Old San Juan!

It gets great reviews on TripAdvisor.  And you won’t even need a passport to get there! 😉

Cool Off With a Fruity Drink at the Hotel’s Oceanfront Bar

Rooms here start at ~$346 per night, and can cost over $500 per night during the busy holiday season!

But this hotel also charges a resort fee of $40 per day when redeeming your complimentary nights.  Meaning you’ll actually save ~$306 per night when you take into account this charge.

While you’re in Puerto Rico, be sure to visit the Morro Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage site and top tourist attraction.

4.   The Ritz-Carlton, Santiago

If you’re headed to Chile’s capital city, consider using the complimentary nights from your Chase Ritz-Carlton card at The Ritz-Carlton, Santiago.

This luxury hotel gets nearly all 5-star reviews on TripAdvisor for its convenient location near the city-center, helpful staff, and amazing restaurant.

Visit the Rooftop Health & Fitness Center at The Ritz-Carlton, Santiago, for Sweeping Views of the Andes Mountains

Rooms here cost ~$332+ per night, which means you’ll save hundreds (if not $1,000+) of dollars using your Chase Ritz-Carlton card’s complimentary nights here.

Million Mile Secrets team member Meghan visited Santiago and was blown away by the amazing street art.

She also enjoyed drinking her fair share of exceptional Chilean (and Argentinian!) wines. 😉  And highly recommends venturing into the spectacular Andes Mountains for some hiking.  Or visiting the nearby seaside town of Valparaiso, Chile, known for its colorful cliffside homes.

Looking to Extend Your Stay?

If you don’t have enough complimentary nights or Ritz-Carlton points to stay as long as you want to, you could mix-and-match paid and award nights and Airbnb.

Or consider other credit cards, like the Chase Sapphire Preferred or Ink Plus, that earn flexible Chase Ultimate Rewards points you can transfer to travel partners, like Ritz-Carlton, United Airlines, and Hyatt.

But remember, Chase now has stricter approval rules.  So if you’ve opened ~5 or more credit cards from any bank (excluding certain business cards) in the past 24 months, it’s unlikely you’ll be approved for most Chase cards.

Bottom Line

There are only 4 Ritz-Carlton tier 1 through 4 hotels in Mexico, the Caribbean, and South America, where you can use your 3 complimentary nights from the Chase Ritz-Carlton card.  But every hotel on the list gets fantastic reviews!

You can save over $1,000 using your complimentary nights for stays at luxurious hotels like The Ritz-Carlton, Aruba and The Ritz-Carlton, Santiago.

And if you want to extend your trip, you could mix-and-match paid and award stays to save money.  Or consider other Chase cards like the Chase Sapphire Preferred or Ink Plus, that earn flexible Chase Ultimate Rewards points you can transfer to travel partners, including Ritz-Carlton.

OOPs.. sorry Daraius…. didn’t read the headline completely!

@Juno – The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua in Maui looks like an awesome hotel! I included it in my 5 Excellent US Hotels Where You Can Stay 3 Nights With the Ritz-Carlton Card Bonus post here: https://millionmilesecrets.com/2016/08/09/5-excellent-us-hotels-where-you-can-stay-3-nights-with-ritz-carlton-card-bonus/

I’m tempted by this card (again… had it during the 140kpt bonus offer two years ago) I like the Aruba choice.. but the location I’m thinking of is RC Kapalua in Maui (Tier 4 hotel). In July, the rates are going for $720+ per night so it would be a very good use of the free nights..

Two things worry me is that is RC going to be stuffy and uptight? I have two little kids and don’t want to go to an uppity hotel.

And eating can get costly with a family… Even with Gold you don’t get breakfast with RC/Marriott so I can see eating add up quickly..

But to save $2000 or more on the hotel, I shouldn’t complain about the food cost Iguess.
