1.   The Welcome Bonuses Are the Highest Public Offers I’ve Seen!

The quickest and easiest way to boost your account balance with any rewards program is to earn lucrative credit card welcome bonuses.  So with the AMEX Delta cards offering their best-ever bonuses, it’s a great time to apply.

Remember, AMEX only allows folks to earn the welcome bonus ONCE per person, per lifetime, on ALL their cards.  This means it’s best to apply when the bonuses are highest because you never know when the deals might come around again!

And keep in mind, the AMEX Delta cards are considered different products.  So if you’ve had one, you can still get the others!

2.   Use Miles to Book Award Flights and Save Lots of Money!

Earning a stash of Delta miles means you’ll have the opportunity to book Big Travel with Small Money!

Although Delta no longer publishes an award chart, you can easily search for award flights and pricing on Delta.com.  Depending on your travel goals, the welcome bonuses can have significant value!

If you like to ski, you can book round-trip coach award flights from Atlanta to Salt Lake City during the winter for 26,000 Delta miles per person.  With any of the AMEX Delta card bonuses, you’d have enough miles for 2 award seats.  Paying cash for these seats could cost ~$800+!

With Any of the Increased AMEX Delta Card Bonuses, You Can Earn Enough Delta Miles for 2 Round-Trip Award Flights From Atlanta to Salt Lake City, Just a ~30 Minute Drive From the Park City Ski Area!

Or splurge on a one-way Business Class award seat to Europe with the AMEX Delta Platinum personal or business card’s 70,000 Delta mile bonus.  Non-stop, one-way award flights from New York to Paris start at 70,000 Delta miles.  This seat could cost several thousand dollars if you paid cash.

3.   You Can Redeem Delta Miles for Award Flights on Partner Airlines

Delta is part of the SkyTeam Alliance, which means you can redeem Delta miles for award flights on partner airlines, like Air France, KLM, Korean Air, and many others!  You can also book award flights on non-alliance partner airlines, like WestJet!

Having Delta Miles Opens Up Award Flight Options on Partner Airlines, Like Air France!

Million Mile Secrets team member Keith used Delta miles to book award flights on KLM to fly non-stop from Amsterdam to Cape Town for his honeymoon.

4.   Easily Redeem Miles Using Pay With Miles

If you’re not interested in booking award flights, the welcome bonuses with the AMEX Delta cards can still be very valuable.  Because AMEX Delta cardholders get access to Pay With Miles.

Using Pay With Miles, your Delta miles are worth 1 cent each.  This means you can redeem the AMEX Delta card bonuses to quickly get $600 to $700 worth of Delta flights.  There are no blackout dates when you book this way and you’ll earn miles and credit toward elite status just like other paid flights!

To use this benefit, you must book on the Delta website.  And only Delta and Delta Connection operated flights are eligible (not partner flights).

5.   Save Money on Checked Bags

With AMEX Delta cards, you get a free checked bag for yourself and up to 8 other people traveling on the same itinerary.  This is an automatic perk on paid and award flights.

For folks without Delta elite status, this perk can save you lots of money depending how often you fly with the airline.  Because Delta charges $25 for your first checked bag each way.  If you’re traveling with a friend or family member on the same reservation, you could save $100 round-trip!

Saving Money on Checked Bag Fees Means Extra Cash in Your Pocket!

6.   Earn Elite Status Faster!

With Delta elite status, you can enjoy terrific perks like complimentary upgrades, waived baggage fees, priority boarding, and more!

Having Delta Elite Status Can Increase Your Chances of Being Upgraded to Business Class!

And having certain credit cards makes it easier to qualify for Delta elite status.  For example, after meeting minimum spending requirements with the AMEX Delta Platinum personal or small business card, you’ll earn 10,000 Medallion Qualifying Miles.

You must earn 25,000 Medallion Qualifying Miles (and meet additional requirements) in a calendar year to achieve Delta Silver elite status.  So earning the qualifying miles with the credit card can give you a head start!

And if you’re a big spender, you can earn even more miles that count toward elite status.  With these cards, you’ll earn:

  • 10,000 Medallion qualifying miles and 10,000 bonus Delta miles after spending $25,000 in a calendar year
  • 10,000 additional Medallion qualifying miles and 10,000 more bonus Delta miles when you spend $50,000 in a a calendar year

7.   AMEX Small Business Cards Don’t Appear on Your Personal Credit Report!

You can apply for Gold Delta SkyMiles® Business Credit Card from American Express or Platinum Delta SkyMiles Business Credit Card from American Express without worrying about the new accounts counting toward card limits with other banks (like Chase!)

Because AMEX small business cards don’t show up on your personal credit report!  So folks who are waiting to get under the Chase “5/24” limit can still earn valuable welcome bonuses without extending the waiting period to apply for more Chase cards.

AMEX Small Business Cards Don’t Appear on Your Personal Credit Report, so They’re Great to Consider If You’re Worried About Chase’s Card Limits!

And qualifying for small business card is easier than you think.  You don’t have to be running a business full-time, or have a 6-figure revenue to qualify.

If you need help filling out your application, here is my step-by-step guide to filling out an AMEX business card application.  Remember, in certain situations, you can use your name as the legal business name.  And if you are a sole proprietor, you do NOT need an EIN (Employer Identification Number) because you can use your social security number instead.

8.   Minimum Spending Might Be Easier to Complete With Your Tax Payments

To unlock the lucrative bonuses on the AMEX Delta cards, you’ll have to complete the minimum spending requirements in a certain time frame following your date of approval.

I’ve put together a list of 40+ ways to help you meet minimum spending requirements.  And with it being tax season, it might be easier to meet the requirements if you pay for your taxes with your card.

9.   Fly With a Friend or Loved One Using the Delta Companion Certificate

A unique perk for AMEX Delta Platinum personal and business cardholders is the round-trip coach companion certificate you get each year on your cardmember anniversary.

You can use this certificate to bring a companion on eligible domestic Delta flights for just the cost of taxes and fees.

You can read about the restrictions of the certificate and how this benefit can easily offset the card’s $195 annual fee.

10.   Will Delta Miles Get You Where You Want to Go?

It’s generally not the best strategy to blindly collect miles without a goal in mind.  Airlines (and hotels) are notorious for devaluing their miles over time, so hoarding isn’t the way to go!

Once you know where you want to go, you’ll be able to figure out if Delta miles are the best way to get there.  For example, if you live near or plan on visiting a Delta hub city, the current AMEX Delta card offers could be a great deal for you because Delta miles do not expire!

But just because these cards are a deal for someone else does NOT make them the right choice for your situation.

11.   You Might Not Want to Limit Your Future Options With These Deals

AMEX business cards will not count toward your Chase “5/24” limit, but AMEX personal cards will count.  And even if you’re only an authorized user on someone else’s account, that will count too!

So if there are Chase card offers you’re interested in, you might want to skip the personal cards this time around.  But the business cards are a good option!

AMEX Delta Card Limited Time Offers Spring 2018
Before You Say “Yes” to the AMEX Delta Personal Cards, Take a Minute to Consider the Opportunities You’re Saying “No” to Down the Road

And you’re only allowed to have 5 AMEX cards open at one time (not including charge cards).  So every card you’re approved for is occupying space that could be filled with another card and welcome bonus in the future.

Bottom Line

The best public offers I’ve seen for the AMEX Delta cards are available until April 11, 2018.  The limited-time deals are great whether you’re looking to book award flights on Delta or partner airlines, or just want to quickly save $600 to $700 off Delta flights.

There are lots of other fantastic reasons to consider the offers.  For example, the Gold Delta SkyMiles® Business Credit Card from American Express or Platinum Delta SkyMiles Business Credit Card from American Express won’t show up on your personal credit report.  This means they won’t count against you if you’re trying to stay under Chase’s “5/24” rule!

But if you’re looking to apply for Chase card offers, you might want to skip the personal cards this time around.  Because they will count toward your Chase “5/24” limit.

Remember, the AMEX Delta cards are considered different card products.  So if you’ve had one, you can still get the others!

I would use them to fly my daughter to Paris for the trip of a lifetime

I would use it for multiple round trip domestic tickets. I plan to visit some popular domestic destinations this year.
