Airport Lounge Perks Compared: Chase Sapphire Reserve, AMEX Platinum, Citi Prestige

Wondering what’s the best card for airport lounges?

Spending time in airport lounges can save you money and make your airport experience more enjoyable.  Because many lounges have free Wi-Fi, snacks, drinks (including alcohol), and comfortable seats to relax.

To access lounges you typically need elite status with an airline or a Business Class or First Class ticket.  Some lounges give you access if you purchase a day pass.

But with any AMEX Platinum (personal card, business card, or Mercedes-Benz card), the Citi Prestige, or Chase Sapphire Reserve, you can enter 900+ lounges throughout the world for free with Priority Pass Select.

Handy Chart of Airline Fee Credits With Premium Cards

I get a lot of questions about the airline fee credits that come with premium cards, like the Chase Sapphire Reserve, Citi Prestige, and AMEX Business Platinum card, for example.

These cards offer credits for baggage fees, in-flight purchases, seat assignments, and more, depending on which card you have.  But there’s often confusion about when you get the credit, what qualifies for the credit, and how to get the credit.

So I created a handy chart that shows you the annual travel credit policies for each premium credit card!

Because via The Points Guy, American Express and American Airlines have a new partnership that can save you money on certain paid flights.

AMEX and American Airlines have not published details of the new partnership.  So I called AMEX Platinum Travel Services to learn more.

And for certain routes, I found airfare was cheaper, especially in Business Class, by booking over the phone with the AMEX representative.

Can You Avoid Priority Pass Lounge Guest Fees With 2 Memberships?

Million Mile Secrets reader, Kloppomaniatweeted:

If I have 2 different cards that come with a Priority Pass Select membership, can I use both for me and a guest to avoid paying the $27 guest fee?

Great question!

The $27 guest fee only applies to Priority Pass Select memberships that come with AMEX Platinum cards like The Enhanced Business Platinum® Card from American Express OPEN or The Platinum Card® from American Express.

Unfortunately, even if you have separate memberships from 2 different AMEX Platinum cards, you will NOT be able to use one for a guest.
