Heads up!  There are 2 solid JetBlue deals going on right now.

Via Will Run For Miles, JetBlue has released The Blue Carpet Sale, with one-way tickets starting at $44!  Valid travel dates are from March 13 to June 20, 2018.  You must book by tomorrow, February 28, 2018, by the earlier of 11:59 pm Eastern Time or local time.  But there are restrictions and blackout dates.

And via Miles to Memories some folks are being targeted for an AMEX Membership Rewards up to 30% transfer bonus to JetBlue!  The offer ends on March 25, 2018, at 11:59 p.m. Mountain Time.

These deals work well together, because the award cost of JetBlue tickets is tied to the cash price.  So if you’re targeted for the transfer bonus, you’ll be able to book JetBlue awards for even fewer AMEX Membership Rewards points!

Here are the details.

JetBlue is rolling out the discounts with another fare sale.  You must book your flight by tomorrow, February 28, 2018, and the earlier of 11:59 pm Eastern Time or local time.

The sale is valid for travel from March 13 to June, 20, 2018.  But blackout dates apply from May 22 to May 30, 2018.

You’ll find cheap fares like:

  • New York to Washington, DC, for $44 one-way
  • Ft. Lauderdale to Nashville for $49 one-way
  • Ft. Lauderdale to New Orleans for $49 one-way
  • Baltimore to Orlando for $59 one-way
  • Washington D.C. to West Palm Beach for $89 one-way

To book flights, you can see my posts for how to search with Google Flights and ITA Matrix to find sale dates.  Then book directly on the JetBlue website.

You can also use JetBlue points to book a sale fare.  JetBlue award flight prices are directly related to the cash price of the ticket, so you’ll save lots of points, too!  Tickets start at just 2,200 JetBlue points + $5.60 in fees.

2.   Targeted JetBlue AMEX Transfer Bonus

Normally, the AMEX Membership rewards transfer ratio to JetBlue is 5:4 (250:200).  So you’d be able to book the cheapest flights from this sale for 2,750 AMEX Membership Rewards points.  But some folks are being targeted for transfer bonuses up to 30% (250:260)!

The terms of the transfer bonus are:

  • AMEX Membership Rewards points must be transferred in increments of 250
  • The deal runs until March 25, 2018, at 11:59 pm Mountain Time
  • AMEX Membership Rewards points transfers to US Airlines are subject to a fee of 0.06 cents per point, up to a maximum of $99

JetBlue Tips

Folks with the Barclaycard JetBlue Plus Card or Barclaycard JetBlue Business Card get a free first checked bag for the cardholder and up to 3 companions on the same reservation when you use your card to pay for your ticket.

Keep in mind, you have 24 hours to cancel a reservation if the flight is at least 7 days away.  So, you can take advantage of these extremely cheap fares and finalize plans later.

Hotel Information

If you book a sale flight, remember there are lots of ways to get cheap or free hotel rooms with points from credit card bonuses and spending.

To find hotels that can be booked with points, I use Hotel Hustle (which even shows you if rooms are actually available!) or AwardMapper.

Remember, you can transfer flexible points like Chase Ultimate Rewards or American Express Membership Rewards to different hotel programs.

Note:  If you prefer to book paid stays, check out discount sites like Orbitz, Expedia, or TravelPony for deals.  But remember you won’t get stay credits or points (and might not have your elite status recognized!).

Airbnb is another terrific way to save money on accommodations, especially for longer stays.  Here are some tips on how to negotiate a better Airbnb price, and how to find a safe and comfortable Airbnb.
