The Chase Sapphire Preferred card is our number 1 card for beginners.

There is now an offer for 60,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points, after spending $4,000 within 3 months of account opening.  That’s worth at least $750 in travel when you book through the Chase Travel Portal!  And potentially MUCH more if you use Chase’s valuable transfer partners!

This offer is possibly targeted, and is 10,000 points higher than the previous sign-up bonus.  But the $95 annual fee is NOT waived the first year.

Emily and I don’t earn a commission from this increased offer, but we’ll always tell you about the best deals!

The information for this offer has been collected independently by Million Mile Secrets. The card details on this page have not been reviewed or provided by the card issuer.

This Increased Chase Sapphire Preferred Sign-Up Bonus Earns You Enough Points for a Round-Trip Award Flight to Beautiful Destinations in Europe, Like Venice!

I’ll help you figure out whether or not this is a good deal for you!

Chase Sapphire Preferred 60,000 Point Bonus (Targeted)

Link:   Chase Sapphire Preferred Increased Offer

The Chase Sapphire Preferred card currently has an increased welcome bonus of 60,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points after spending $4,000 on purchases within the first 3 months of account opening.  This is 10,000 points higher than the previous offer!  But you’ll have to pay the $95 annual fee the first year.

The card also comes with:

  • 2 Chase Ultimate Rewards points per $1 spent on travel and dining at restaurants
  • 1 Chase Ultimate Rewards points per $1 spent on all other purchases worldwide
  • 5,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points when you add an authorized user and make a purchase within the first 3 months of opening your account
  • Primary car rental insurance – Covers damage or theft to your rental car, when you pay for the rental with your card
  • Trip delay reimbursement – Get up to $500 back per ticket when your trip is delayed more than 12 hours
  • NO foreign transaction fees

Don’t forget about Chase’s “5/24” rule.  If you’ve opened 5 or more credit cards from any bank within the past 24 months, you’re unlikely to be approved for this card.  So be sure to know what your count is before you apply.

And if you already have the Chase Sapphire Preferred or Chase Sapphire Reserve, you won’t be approved for this card.  Because you can only hold 1 “Chase Sapphire” card at a time.

Is This a Good Deal?

I love Chase Ultimate Rewards points, because they transfer to so many great airlines & hotels!  So earning an extra 10,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points is typically a good idea.  But because the annual fee isn’t waived the first year with this offer, you’ll have to pay an extra $95 to get those points.

This doesn’t make it a bad deal, it just takes a bite out of your potential savings.  You can redeem 10,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points for $100 cash back, which means you’ll make out with at least $5 extra with this deal.  Or you can redeem those same points for $125 in travel booked through the Chase Travel Portal.

But if you want to get the most out of your Chase Ultimate Rewards points I suggest transferring them to a travel partner.

Targeted Do You Qualify For This 60000 Chase Ultimate Rewards Point Bonus
You’ll Typically Get the Best Value From Your Chase Ultimate Rewards Points When You Transfer Them to Partners. For Example, the Hyatt Regency Lisle Can Be a Great Deal for Only 5,000 Hyatt Points a Night!

For example, Chase Ultimate Rewards points transfer at a 1:1 ratio to United Airlines.  And 50,000 United Airlines miles are enough for 2 round-trip domestic award flights with United Airlines to anywhere in the continental US, like Chicago!

Then you could transfer the extra 10,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points to Hyatt, and book 2 free nights at a Category 1 Hyatt hotel, like the Hyatt Regency Lisle.  Rates at this hotel can be ~$120+ in the summer, so your extra points could save you ~$240.  That’s MUCH more than the $95 annual fee you’ll pay up front.

If you’d rather sign-up for the 50,000 point offer with a waived annual fee the first year, you’ll still get a great deal!

Bottom Line

There is an increased (and possibly targeted) offer for the Chase Sapphire Preferred.  You can earn 60,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points after spending $4,000 on purchases within the first 3 months of account opening.  That’s 10,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points higher than the previous sign-up bonus!

The downside is that you’ll have to pay the $95 annual fee, which was waived for the first year with the the previous offer.  But if you’re going to transfer your points to one of Chase’s travel partners, you can easily get more value from the extra points than the annual fee.  I recommend doing the math to see if it’s a good deal for your situation.

If you’d rather a waived annual fee instead of extra points, it’s still a fantastic deal.

Just remember, if you’ve opened 5 or more credit cards from any bank within the past 24 months, you’re unlikely to be approved for this card.

Emily and I don’t earn a commission for this increased offer, but we’ll always share the best deals with you!

I’m 5/24 won’t be free of that until June but why not I’m going to try. Especially that one of those 5 cards is a store card. All they can say is no…

Million Mile Secrets

Don’t forget, it will be a hard pull on your credit if you apply!

My husband and I each have a Chase Sapphire Reserve card and we have each received our $300 travel credit for 2018. Year 1 anniversary dates are in March (so we got the one-time 2nd $300 travel credits).

I plan to product change my husband’s CSR, and was planning on a Freedom card to get bonus categories.

Is it possible to product change to the Sapphire Preferred and receive the bonus? I suspect the answer is ‘No’ since they are both Sapphire products.

Million Mile Secrets

You won’t receive a sign-up bonus when you product change. You only earn the bonus on new applications with Chase.

I just opened the reserve last week. Just messaged them seeing if that will match that bonus for me. Wish me luck…. lol

Million Mile Secrets

Good luck! But I’m guessing that because you applied for a different card they won’t match you. Please let me know they do!
