Check your email!  Some folks are being targeted to earn 10,000 bonus IHG points for staying once at a Kimpton hotel by April 30, 2018.

There’s NO registration link for the deal, and it appears to be tied to IHG’s current Accelerate promotion.  So check your inbox and spam folder to see if you qualify.

Kimpton is a boutique hotel brand that IHG purchased a few years ago.  While their loyalty programs haven’t completely merged yet, you can now use IHG points to book award stays at Kimpton.

IHG is sending out emails offering 10,000 IHG points on your next Kimpton stay by April 30, 2018.  Look for an email with the subject line “Let’s celebrate:  Earn 10,000 bonus points at Kimpton hotels with Accelerate“.  Million Mile Secrets team member Jasmin received the email below:

Targeted 10000 IHG Points For ONE Hotel Stay
The IHG Email Mentions the Deal Is Part of IHG’s Accelerate Promotion

The terms say you must register your member number in advance to qualify for the deal.  There’s no registration link, so my best guess is you’ll need to register for IHG’s 2018 Accelerate promotion if you haven’t already.

Other terms include:

  • Kimpton stay must be completed between February 1, 2018, and April 30, 2018
  • A stay can be one (or more) nights
  • This bonus will NOT count towards your Accelerate “achievement bonus”
  • Most IHG business and leisure rates will qualify
  • Bonus points should post to your account 6 to 8 weeks after your stay

Kimpton hotels tend to be pricey, so unless you already have plans to stay at a Kimpton hotel, it might not be worth switching paid stays to take advantage of the deal.

If you’re looking for other ways to easily earn IHG points, consider the IHG® Rewards Club Select Credit Card.  You’ll earn 60,000 IHG points after you spend $1,000 on purchases in the first 3 months of opening your account.  And a $50 statement credit after your first purchase.  Check out this post to see why it’s one of the Chase cards I keep in my wallet year after year!

Bottom Line

Folks are being targeted to earn 10,000 bonus IHG points for their next stay at Kimpton hotels by April 30, 2018.  So check your email!

This seems to be part of IHG’s Accelerate promotion, and the terms say you must register in advance to qualify.  You can sign-up for IHG’s Accelerate promotion here.

If you’re eligible and have a Kimpton stay coming up, this is a nice little bonus!  But because Kimpton hotels are usually expensive, I wouldn’t switch paid stays just to get in on the deal.

Like many of these offers, it’s not as clear-cut as you might think from the description above. I was assisted by a Very professional and local reservation agent who booked me using an AARP discount, for a rate of $300 per night for a king balcony room, An upgraded room from their entry-level room. but the agent stated I then did not qualify for the 10,000 IHG points with that discounted room rate. I researched the verbiage of the offer as above which did not mention any kind of qualifications or restrictions, so I decided to speak directly with the corporate IHG program, and went round and round with their less professional (and it seemed less local) phone staff, Routed back and forth between reservations and the IHG® program. I gave up frustrated as my call dropped in the middle of it, but after a break I decided to call back one final time . The agent in the reservations department stated I needed to talk with somebody in the IHG® program, and that was closed for the night. She also offered to call the hotel as her supervisor suggested that; at that point I just said I would deal with it when I got to the hotel. a Very nice, new Kimpton hotel that just opened up in downtown Palm Springs California, which I am looking forward to visiting.
Suffice it to say, I think they want you to pay full rate If you want those 10k points. It almost seems to be a decision of the particular hotel, as if IHG could not enforce the rule. I realized at a recent Intercontinental stay that the individual hotels are owned by different people so they operate somewhat independently, And not always in accordance with brand standards and promotions.

Still not even mentioning the IHG devaluation in your Fanboy posting? Sheesh.
