The Best Deals Go Fast! New IHG PointBreaks Hotels Available Through April 2018

JasonThe Best Deals Go Fast! New IHG PointBreaks Hotels Available Through April 2018Million Mile Secrets Team

The new IHG PointBreaks list is live!  You can book discounted hotels through April 30, 2018.

IHG made some big changes to this promotion.  Previously, you could book hotels for 5,000 IHG points per night.  But now, the hotels are divided into 3 tiers: 5,000, 10,000, or 15,000 IHG points per night.

With the New IHG PointBreaks Prices Not Every Hotel is 5,000 IHG Points a Night. But Some Hotels That Cost More, Like the Intercontinental Cali, Colombia, Are Still Great Deals

Here are the details of the deal.

IHG PointBreaks January to April 2018

You can book discounted stays at the current IHG PointBreaks hotels until April 30, 2018.  The best hotels will sell out MUCH quicker, so it’s best to book a stay now if you think you’ll use it.  You can always cancel later and get your IHG points back if you change your mind.

PointBreaks hotels will cost between 5,000 and 15,000 IHG points per night, which means that most of the hotels will cost more than previous PointBreaks promotions.  But there are almost double the amount of participating hotels and you can now book PointBreaks hotels with a combination of points and cash!

You can still book some nice hotels for 5,000 IHG points per night, like:

There are only 30+ hotels available for 5,000 IHG points per night, so the chances of the best deals making sense for your travel plans aren’t great.  But there are still lots of decent options for the more expensive nights including great Intercontinental hotels overseas (especially in South America) for 10,000  to 15,000 IHG points a night.  You can book hotels like:

You’ve Got More PointBreaks Options With This Promotion, but Not All of Them Are Great Deals. The Holiday Inn Express & Suites Mount Rushmore Isn’t a Great Deal, Even With the PointBreaks Discount

If you’re looking to stay anywhere in the US, there are lots of Holiday Inn Express, Staybridge Suites, and Candlewood Suites hotels available.  With more hotels to choose from, it’s more likely that this version of the IHG PointBreaks promotion will be useful to you.  But with much fewer options available for 5,000 IHG points per night, it’s also more likely it will cost you more points.

Before you book, make sure it’s a good deal for you.  For example, the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Mount Rushmore is available through this promotion for 15,000 IHG points a night.  But you can book it for as little as ~$70 per night, which is only ~0.46 cents per point.  This isn’t an awful deal if you were planning to stay there anyway, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to take advantage of it.

Save Even More With the IHG Points & Cash Trick

Using the IHG Points & Cash trick, you can “buy” 5,000 IHG points for ~$30.  So you’ll be able to book hotels on the list for between ~$30 and ~$90 per night.

And if you have the Chase IHG card, you’ll get a 10% rebate on redeemed points, up to a maximum rebate of 100,000 IHG points per year.  So folks with the card will effectively pay 4,500 to 13,500 IHG points per night for a PointBreaks hotel (5,000 to 15,000 IHG points – 10% point rebate).

Bottom Line

The latest IHG PointBreaks promotion is now live!  You can book 200+ participating hotels for 5,000 to 15,000 IHG points per night, for stays through April 30, 2018.

The most popular hotels sell out quickly, so even if your travel plans aren’t set in stone, it’s a good idea to book now.  Because you can always cancel later and have your points refunded.

If you’re comfortable using the IHG Points & Cash trick, you can effectively book these rooms for ~$30 to ~$90 per night.

Even though there are more PointBreaks hotels available this time around, most of them will cost more IHG points per night.  So not all of the hotels will be great deals.

Not sure what is going on, but I am on IHG and can ONLY find points + cash options now for booking hotels?? No points only free nights. Not sure if it is a glitch in their system or a new process altogether. I've tried many different cities and dates, and not one option for a free night with points only.

Oh wow. I just called IHG. When you search for a reward hotel stay, you have to click SELECT HOTEL on the home page, then click SELECT ROOM with the pop-up boxes of your options, then click SELECT ROOM *again* in order to see the POINTS ONLY option. SO SO CONFUSING. I am hoping they will come to their senses and change this back, but for now it is unbelievably frustrating that they have made this change.

Oh, come off it! You can't put lipstick on this pig. The new list is a disaster and you know it.

The prices have doubled and tripled. Be honest with your readers.
