Typically, Hilton points aren’t the most valuable hotel points.  But they’ve always been pretty easy to earn.

Now, you can transfer AMEX Membership Rewards points to Hilton points at an increased 1:2 ratio!  That’s a 33% increase over the previous transfer ratio.  This is a permanent change, NOT a temporary promotion.

Is This a Good Deal?

Overall, this is good news.  If you have AMEX Membership Rewards points, they have just become (slightly) more valuable overnight!

However, I wouldn’t recommend going out of your way to book an award night at Hilton just because of this deal.  Award nights at Hilton hotels are typically far more costly than other hotel chains.  And there are lots of more valuable uses for your AMEX Membership Rewards points, like award flights to Europe!

Or, you can transfer other miles & points to Hilton.  Both Virgin Atlantic miles, and Hawaiian Airlines miles transfer to Hilton at a 2:3 ratio.

Bottom Line

AMEX Membership Rewards is increasing their transfer rate to Hilton, permanently!

You can now convert AMEX Membership Rewards points to Hilton Points at a 1:2 ratio, (~33% higher than before)!

If you were planning on using your AMEX Membership Rewards points for Hilton stays, this is great news.  But in most situations, you’ll probably get more value by transferring your AMEX Membership Rewards points to their airline partners.
