I asked Million Mile Secrets team member Meghan to tell us about her stay at Marriott’s Village d’lle-de-France near Disneyland Paris to help folks who might be considering a trip to this popular theme park!

Meghan:   My family and I recently took a trip to France.  Although we had 12 days there, I only booked a hotel for the first 5 nights.

After exploring the City of Light for a few days, we decided we wanted to spend a day at Disneyland Paris.  I have a 2-year-old.  And although the thought of going to Disney (in any country!) goes against the core of my being, I decided it would be worth it to see her smiling face.

It Took a Few Hours, but Em Gradually Warmed up to the Idea of Sporting Mini Mouse Ears!

Spoiler alert:   It was. 😉

Plus, I was able to get 2 free nights at Marriott’s Village d’lle-de-France with Marriott points.  It’s just ~4 miles from the theme park!

Here’s more about the hotel.  And why I think it’s a great option for families!

Marriott’s Village d’lle-de-France Near Disneyland Paris

Marriott’s Village d’lle-de-France is a Marriott Vacation Club property a few miles from Disneyland Paris, and a ~45 minute train ride from central Paris.  It’s located in the town of Bailly-Romainvilliers.

It’s 1 of only 2 hotels in the area where you can use hotel points for free nights!  The other is the Radisson Blu Hotel at Disneyland® Resort Paris, where you can use Club Carlson points for a free stay.

At Marriott’s Village d’lle-de-France, you can book studios, 2-bedroom, and 3-bedroom townhouses, ranging from ~270 square feet to nearly 1,400 square feet!  So there’s something for everyone, whether you’re a couple on a romantic getaway or a large family on vacation.

Marriott’s Village d’lle-de-France Is Like a Tiny European Village!

The hotel grounds seem to go on forever.  You feel like you’re in a quaint European village.

In the main building, there’s a restaurant, market, coffee bar, and kid’s play area.  There are also 2 pools and a number of ponds throughout the property.

Plus, the town of Bailly-Romainvillier is an enjoyable place to wander around.  It has a few different restaurants, coffee shops, and grocery stores.  We were able to save a lot by making a trip to the local grocery store to stock up on food, drinks, and snacks for our weekend stay!

Using Marriott (or Starwood!) Points for Free Nights

When we visited in late September 2017, the 2-bedroom townhouses were going for ~$430+ per night.  But we got 2 free nights using 60,000 Marriott points (30,000 Marriott points per night)!  And saved over $850!

Because Starwood points transfer to Marriott at a 1:3 ratio, that’s just 10,000 Starwood points per night (30,000 Marriott points / 3).

Depending on the room type and time of year, prices range from ~$175 to $460+.  But cost just 20,000 to 35,000 Marriott points for a free night.  So you can save a lot using your points here if award nights are available!

There Was Plenty of Room to Spread out and Cute French Doors That Opened to a Little Pond in the Back!

The townhouse was a welcome escape from the small hotel room we had in Paris.  It was nice to spread out, open windows to enjoy the fresh air, and get some laundry done!

Downstairs had a half-bath, the sitting and dining area, kitchen, and a small laundry room.

We Made Pizza for Dinner and Bought Cheap Champagne to Save Money Instead of Eating at the On-Site Restaurant

Two bedrooms and another 2 full bathrooms were located upstairs.  This was great for traveling with my daughter.  Because we could put her to bed and relax downstairs without having to worry about making too much noise.

Getting to Disneyland Paris

From Marriott’s Village d’lle-de-France, you can get a shuttle to Disneyland Paris for ~$4 per person, round-trip.  And although you can catch public transportation nearby, paying for the shuttle is well worth it to avoid the hassle.  And the ~10 minute walk to the nearest bus stop isn’t bad.

We Arrived to the Park Early and Were Able to Enjoy a Number of Rides Before the Large Crowds Arrived

To get to the park, it’s a ~10-minute ride, depending on traffic.

Staying at Marriott’s Village d’lle-de-France is also convenient because if you’re traveling from Paris, it’s easy to grab a train from almost anywhere to Disneyland Paris, then catch a bus or taxi to Marriott’s Village d’lle-de-France.  Because Disneyland Paris is at the end of the RER A4 line!

I always use Google Maps to figure out the best route when I’m riding public transportation in a new city. 😉

If you’re looking for more Marriott (or Starwood!) points, consider applying for the Chase Marriott personal or small business card.  Both currently have an 80,000 Marriott point sign-up bonus after spending $3,000 on purchases within the first 3 months of account opening.

But keep in mind if you’ve opened 5+ cards from any bank (NOT counting Chase business cards and these other business cards) in the past 24 months, it’s unlikely you’ll be approved for most Chase cards.

That said, the Chase Marriott Premier Business card is NOT affected by this rule!  So it’s possible to get it even if you’re over 5/24.

You can also apply for the personal and small business version of the AMEX Starwood card, and transfer the points you earn to Marriott at a ratio of 1:3.

With both cards, you can earn a 25,000 Starwood point sign-up bonus after meeting minimum spending requirements.  That’s equivalent to 75,000 Marriott points (25,000 X 3)!

Just remember, AMEX will only let you earn the sign-up bonus for each card ONCE per lifetime.

Bottom Line

Headed to Disneyland Paris?  If you plan on spending a few days there, consider avoiding the ~45 minute one-way train ride between Paris and the park, and stay at Marriott’s Village d’lle-de-France instead!

The hotel is a ~10 minute bus ride from the park.  And offers spacious studios, 2-bedroom, and 3-bedroom townhouses in a beautiful setting.  With lots of perks, like multiple pools and a kid’s entertainment area, it’s a great spot for families.

Rooms go from ~$175 to ~$460+, depending on the room type and time of year you book.  But if you can find available award nights, you’ll pay only 20,000 to 35,000 Marriott points for a free night.

Have you ever stayed at Marriott’s Village d’lle-de-France?  I’d love to hear about your experience!
