The Ink Business Preferred Credit Card currently has the highest sign-up bonus of any Chase Ultimate Rewards card. You can earn 80,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points after meeting minimum spending requirements.
Chase Ultimate Rewards points are my favorite kind of points (and many others agree!). So I’ve asked Million Mile Secrets member Meghan to explain why she got her husband to sign-up for the Ink Business Preferred card!
Meghan: Thanks, Daraius! I’ve had my eye on the Ink Business Preferred card for a while, because the sign-up bonus alone is worth at least $1,000 in travel through the Chase Ultimate Rewards Travel Portal. And potentially much more when you transfer points to valuable airline and hotel partners!
But I’ve applied for a number of other cards recently, so I decided to get my husband the card instead. I’ll explain why!
Applying for the Chase Ink Business Preferred Card
In my immediate family, I am the manager of all things points & miles. So if there’s a great credit card offer, I’m the one that
tells suggests to my husband, mom, or sister that they should apply. Because we’ve always earned and pooled points as a team.
In fact, I’m patiently waiting for that glorious day my now 2-year-old can earn her first big sign-up bonus! 😉
Like Daraius, I love the flexibility that comes with Chase Ultimate Rewards points. Because you can transfer them to valuable airline and hotel partners for award flights or stays, or book paid travel through the Chase Ultimate Rewards portal with no blackout dates! And my family earns Chase Ultimate Rewards points all of the time with cards like the Chase Sapphire Reserve, Freedom Unlimited, Ink Cash, and Ink Plus (no longer available).
Most of the time, I transfer the points we’ve earned to travel partners like United Airlines and Hyatt. Over the past few years, we’ve saved thousands of dollars on flights to spots like California and Panama, and on hotels in places like Seattle and Puerto Vallarta!
But I’ve signed-up for a couple of cards recently, including the Chase IHG card, so I didn’t want to test my luck and get denied. That’s why I got my husband to apply for the Ink Business Preferred card!
Qualifying for the Chase Ink Business Preferred
We have a vacation rental that counts as a small business. And I do a fair amount of reselling on eBay and Craigslist. Plus, my husband is under Chase’s 5/24 rule and has a great credit score, so I knew he’d have a decent chance of being approved. And he was!
That said, Chase DID ask for extra documentation from him regarding the business, like a copy of a business card and proof of the business’ mailing address. And that has never happened to us when applying for Chase cards in the past!
So be sure you can provide information about your business if needed! Usually, as long as you have a for-profit venture, even something as small as providing child care or tutoring students, you can open a small business card.
Using the Sign-Up Bonus From the Chase Ink Business Preferred
I don’t have any specific plans for the sign-up bonus just yet. But we fly United Airlines a lot, because they offer lots of flights from our home airport in Missoula, Montana. So I love having a stash of Chase Ultimate Rewards points I can instantly transfer to United Airlines if needed.
This past summer we had a few weeks of terrible smoke from surrounding forest fires, and with my stash of Ultimate Rewards points I was able to book our entire family last-minute tickets to California to visit my sister. Those seats were easily going for nearly $1,000 a piece!
Chase Ink Business Preferred Offer
- 3X Chase Ultimate Rewards points for every $1 you spend on travel, shipping purchases, internet, cable and phone services, advertising purchases made with social media sites, and search engines (up to a maximum of $150,000 in combined purchases per account anniversary year)
- 1X Chase Ultimate Rewards points on all other purchases
- Up to $600 in cell phone insurance when you pay your cell phone bill with the card
- 25% bonus when you redeem points through the Chase Ultimate Rewards travel portal
- Primary auto rental insurance (CDW) when renting for business purposes, plus purchase and extended warranty protection
The $95 annual fee is NOT waived the first year. But I believe the perks of the card are well worth it.
Because of too many recent credit card applications, Million Mile Secrets team member Meghan didn’t think she would be approved for the fantastic 80,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards point sign-up bonus on the Chase Ink Business Preferred card. But because she manages her family’s points & miles, she decided to get it for her husband instead!
They own a vacation rental and he has good credit, so she knew he’d have a shot at being approved. And he was!
She doesn’t have a plan for using the bonus quite yet. But she knows the possibilities are nearly endless, because Chase Ultimate Rewards points are so flexible!
