If you need Hilton points for an expensive stay, or want to top-off your account for a particular award, this could be a good deal!

80% Bonus When You Buy Hilton Points

Through December 29, 2017, you can earn a tiered bonus of up to 80% when you buy Hilton points.  But you’ll have to buy at least 10,000 points to get any bonus at all.

You’ll earn:

  • 60% bonus when you buy between 10,000 and 19,000 Hilton points
  • 80% bonus when you buy 20,000+ Hilton points

An 80% bonus means you’re buying points for just 0.55 cents each.  Normally, Hilton sells points for 1 cent each.

The maximum number of Hilton points you can buy per calendar year (before any bonuses are applied) is 80,000 Hilton points.

Is It Worth It?

As always, I suggest doing the math to see what makes sense for you.

For example, if you’re visiting family in Massachusetts for the holidays, the Hampton Inn Fall River/Westport costs ~$120 per night.  But you can reserve a room for just 10,000 Hilton points per night!

With this bonus promotion, you can spend $230 and get a total of 41,400 Hilton points.  That’s enough for 4 nights at the Hampton Inn Fall River/Westport, for a savings of ~$250 ($120 per night X 4 nights = $480 total – $230 spent on points).  That’s a discount of over 50%!

That said, it can be tricky to find award nights at some hotels.  So be sure to check the award calendar before taking advantage of this offer if you have an upcoming stay in mind.

More Ways to Earn Hilton Points

There are lots of ways to earn Hilton points.  For example, you could sign-up for a Hilton co-branded credit card, like the Hilton Honors™ Card from American Express.

Or earn them indirectly by transferring points from American Express Membership RewardsCiti ThankYou, Virgin Atlantic, or Hawaiian Airlines.

Bottom Line

Through December 29, 2017, you can earn up to an 80% bonus on Hilton points purchases when you buy Hilton points.

I recommend doing the math to see if the promotion makes sense for you.  Because purchasing points for an award stay could potentially cost less compared to the actual cash cost of a room.
